Sources expect Jim Chaney to bring old friend Sam Pittman (Arkansas OL) to Georgia as his OL coach. LINK

Are these two secretly married?

I certainly hope it's not true. But if there's one position we should be able to get another kick-arse coach for, it's OL.

I am fine with hiring an OL coach who can recruit worth a crap. Pittman is good at coaching, but its glaringly obvious that he can't recruit for crap.

Meh. Dude just hired Chaney to get Pittman. Chaney isn't a good enough OC for that.

Berts history of hiring good assistants should contain the melt. Its a fricking oline coach, not Jesus.

Good ol Pittman is leaving us a massive hole to fill due to piss poor recruiting since he has been here.

Truth. Has he made a hire yet that didn't turn out to be an upgrade? Will be hard to upgrade over Pittman as a recruiter, though, but I have confidence in Bielema.

That being said... I would have loved to have seen some continuity as that seems to be one of the things that is holding us back. Hard to have in today's coaching environment and especially in an offseason like this with some massive upheaval.

Pittman as a recruiter

We are fricking paper thin thanks to his recruiting. I don't know if you have noticed but we have 0 OL commitments this year. Last year it was two kids who would have come to Arkansas either way. Dude quit recruiting when Chaney left.

His smash job recruiting has left us to bring in a 2* on official this weekend.

Well, if this happens then you can expect this to help Kirkland make his decision, IMO

Everything I have heard said he was leaving anyways.

Why would he be leaving no matter what?

unfortunate. Pittman was a good coach. He also seemed to really bring in talent at times. Who are possible replacements?

Maybe if he was an offensive guy and could look over things... but he's a first year defensive minded coach. Needed to do better.

Doesn't make much sense.

His wife was involved very much so, with the women bible studies and the women in general at Cross Church. She has been since they first arrived. All indications pointed to this being his last job.

I do not get him wanting to follow Chaney. Chaney is terrible and will not be the OC at UGA no longer than two years.

This absolutely kills recruiting because we need 3 OL right now.

According to Kirk, Pittman turned down a similar offer to stay, only taking a $25,000 raise to leave for Georgia.
