Someone is messing with the Wiki page, but posted it because it said , Marcus' brother committed to the Kentucky Wildcats and will lead them to a national championship

This.

Marcus Monk was worshipped here and was a GA for Anderson, so I have an *extremely* hard time believing he'd steer his own brother away from Arkansas.

I'm just spitballing here, but the only way I could see this even remotely being true is if Malik is running with a bad crowd he needs to get away from.

This is the only reason for him choosing Kentucky, if any of the Mike Anderson supporters try to say otherwise is just BS.

Its not happening here with Mike's lazy recruiting and subpar coaching staff he employs

Yea, wish we could have gotten him but more upset about the reason given.

I hope that is some Schapp bs that gets retracted.

Would forever damage Marcus' legacy at U of A if confirmed.

Just tell the truth.
Chance to compete for a NC and the money was better.

That, or to be brutally honest, Marcus sees this purely in terms of business. Kentucky is a one and down NBA prep school. From a business point of view it might be better to get out in the NBA as quickly as possible to earn the most money you can before age and injuries end your career.

Particularly since Marcus saw his own promising career dwindle away after that knee injury. He never was quite the same athlete after it.

There are likely quite a few factors in this.

Marcus will more than likely be Malik's agent, and who better to be around than Cal for one year, Mike just doesn't have the connections as Cal.

I hate that he didn't choose us, but we all know UK is the better choice for a TOP 10 player.

someone posted a link to his 'business' a few weeks ago that i can't find now. i loved marcus back in the day, that said, that website reminded me of something...shady isn't the right word but something nearing that- like something you'd have seen from that walt guy whatever his name was that was in love with gus- just my opinion.

In terms of NBA draft status, I think it is always better to go to a school with 3 or 4 talented players on it instead of 10 to 12

He would have had better stats here than Kentucky.

High stats = high draft status

I guess the quest of a NC was the deciding factor.

Anyone wish to make the argument that the Calipari staff is viewed as the better developers?

The practices would be closer to NBA level for sure.

We can't compete when we can't even sign our own

Just playing for second place every year

Really sucks

Most folks will ecstatic if that was truly the case, me not so much, but I don't get worked up over stuff on tHill anymore. There are bigger things in life, like avoiding cancer causing, recalled meats and processed foods.

Love me some Bobby Portis!!!!

I agree that if Marcus steered him away from UA then we need to sever all ties with him...
if he's taking the heat off his brother then shame on him. First thing he needs to learn is that all decisions have consequences both good and bad. This decision will cause him to be shunned by his home state ....
.... but hey it's just "business"

... and how did that work out for Archie again?

If marcus really steered him away. Their mother should lose that cushy job she got and marcus should be banned from any arkansas honors or association with any program. if they wanna burn a bridge I say lets throw on the gasoline.

He was a first round pick and is getting about 15 minutes a game for the Suns right now. He's also making $1.1M this year. I'd say it's working pretty well for him. While he's probably not playing as much as he'd like, he got exactly what he wanted out of going to UK (minus the national championship, of course)

Hard to predict the future.

But predictions can be fun. A couple of my favorite are when people said we weren't going bowling after we lost to toledo and people said we weren't going to the big dance when mike's team struggled early last season.
