Injuries are currently piling up. We are doing as good or better than most 'hyped' SEC teams a month in the season. SEC play coming up with State.
Gates, McKinney, Campbell, Scroggins, Shaddy.

Good news is Gates and Shaddy will return.
We have some upperclassmen that need to start swinging the bats better, we need a legit Sunday starter.
We're a step or two behind where we should be going into SEC play due to losing Campbell and McKinney

Win SEC Opener 3-1 over State.
Knight 7 innings, 11 Ks while allowing only one run (solo HR in first).
Only 4 hits for both teams but Bonfield and Koch homered for Hogs.
First SEC Opener win since 2012 and snapped 11 game SEC losing streak from last year.

Nice. I had enough nail biting for one day, so I chose to skip Hogs baseball today.

Good day for the school. Basketball, baseball, softball and women's tennis all had big wins today.

Win 5-4 over State. 2-0
Stephan moves to 4-0 going 6 1/3, 4 runs only 2 earned, 8 Ks.
Chadwick the save 2 2/3 innings, 5 Ks, no H no BB.
Shaddy had another E and Spanberger the other.
Funny enough both Shaddy and Spanberger provided the offense.
Bottom of the second Shaddy 2 run HR and Spanberger 3 run HR to knock out State's starting pitcher.

Good job by DVH this year so far with all these injuries.

Win 6-1 to finish the sweep.
Alberius went 4 2/3, Murphy faced a lefty and got him then Taccolini got the four inning save.
11 hits from the sticks. Shaddy a solo HR.

I'm interested to see what we do when Gates comes back. Assuming he'll play this week. Do we go with Spanberger at 3B and McFarland DH?

I would strongly consider putting Shaddy at the DH. He is a hell of a liability in the infield for this squad.

Ranked in two polls this week.

Mizzou will be a good measuring stick for this team, although they haven't played a decent team so far.
I agree with putting Shaddy as the DH, he's seems to be the weak link in the infield

He damn near cost us the 2nd game against State.
He leads the team with 8 errors this season. 8 errors. Thats a lot for just 21 games into the season.
To put that in perspective....The rest of the team combined has 11 errors. Shaddy by himself almost has as many as the rest of the team.
