Even if we wind up losing him its a good sign that the program is willing to flash the cash to keep the staff intact. Long term continuity with the coaches is key to building up a program.
Plus, while he still might be gone, I think it is in Shannon's best interests to stay another year or so at least. The LBs showed excellent improvement this year and if we get solid play out of that position next year you have to think some teams are going to look at him for a DC job.

Mainly with the HC and Coordinators. Upgrading position coaches is never a bad thing, I would trade McDonald/Buh for Smith/Shannon every day of the week.
