If we can get Gundy then the whole Gus debate is moot. Seems like almost everyone would be happy with Gundy.

Don't see how we would have any chance at Richt

Richt is not happening. He went to freaking Miami. He gets to be a millionare in MIAMI. He gets to recruit south florida talent and has a much easier route to the playoff.

Lord.

Gundy would be great but no chance he leaves there. Why would he? He's also got a much easier route to the playoff there, he went there and they can pay him just as much.

Still waiting on a more likely, less risky hire than Gus.

All you've done is talked shite and suggested nothing.

Saying Gus is the best we can do is pretentious? It's just the opposite.

Sorry I push the buttons of your deeply embedded Arkansas insecurities and sensibilities.

News flash, not everyone thinks NWA/Arkansas is the center of the universe.

I just do not see how he is going to win more than 8 if he doesn't have top 10 talent.

Who would be his QB? It will not be kelley. Would he move koilan to qb? Possibly get bohanon to sign as a qb?

"You need to get out more."

"This isn't Madden, it's the real world and I know what we are and I know what we aren't.

Our fans should try it sometime."

Like I said, pretentious.

So because people think we can get Chad Morris means we think NWA is the center of the universe

Wow. If I was gonna say that about anyone I’d say it about the guy who thinks we couldn't do better, the guy evidently scared of taking much of a risk. Hmm, Bert didn’t seem too risky now that I think about it.

As you may could have guessed, I hope Jeff does take a risk. It’s freaking football, do something a little daring, excite us, give us hope. We need and even deserve that after the utter boredom and suck we’ve lived the last how many ever years.

I like Dallas but traffic alone makes NWA a better place (for me) to live.

At first I didn't think there was any way we could land him, but I was told by someone recently to keep my eyes on Brent Venables. I wouldn't have heard this if he hasn't expressed interest, I don't think. And we could do a lot worse, if you ask me.

You didn't think we good land a career D.C. Who has been passed over for in countless HC jobs since he was the D.C. At 0U?

I don't think Long is going to be able to go the route of a coordinator with this hire.

The program is viewed to be so low right now that he is going to have to hire someone that has proven to be able to build a program back up.

V doesn't fit that mold.

No, I didn't. Because Venables has made it clear to his bosses he has no intentions of leaving Clemson until his children are finished with school. He has turned down many offers since being hired there as well.

Apparently though he would like the job here.

You're probably right. I hope he can land someone better. I have a lot of respect for Venables.

Anyone been looked at besides leach?

I don't know any names (I asked about Leach by name since he's kinda become my flavor of the month) but there are plenty more apparently. I've heard specific names thrown around by the guy I talk to up there, but I've never really asked him to distinguish if they're on his personal wishlist or on the AD's radar as potentials.

HE basically mentions a lot of the common names thrown around here, some much more than others which would lead me to believe there's something there. He does admit that he knows of several pushing for Gus, which this guy hates more than I do after having close contact with him over the years. He doesn't think they'd make a move on him UNLESS it was mutual, Gus hadn't just been fired from AU (ie desperate for a job), and several other options went away. Just too polarizing and wreaks of another Nutt situation.

ETA- this guy really likes the younger up-and-comers or offensive gurus in particular. From talking to him, idk where the myth of JL looking for the Butch Davises/Jim Grobes or that our BOT/BMDs are stuck in the past originated but neither are true

the names I am hearing is Leach, with the contract caveat...

Gundy... but doubtful he would take it at this juncture...

Gus.... with the same caveats as we all know, power struggle within the power people

and, believe it or not.. Les Miles

Which means all of it is a smoke screen.
