Western Kentucky has not been formally contacted regarding Bobby Petrino by Louisville, a source told CBSSports.com on Monday.
It seems the former Louisville coach is definitely in play if for no other reason than Petrino hasn't shot down speculation. Former players have voiced their support for the former Louisville coach. Petrino went 8-4 with the Hilltoppers this year two seasons after he left Arkansas in disgrace.
Western Kentucky AD Todd Stewart structured Petrino's contract so that if he leaves after this season, the school would actually make money from his departure. Petrino would have to pay Western Kentucky $1.2 million. He currently earns approximately $850,000.
Other names that have been mentioned at Louisville: Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez, Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi and Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris.

I summed this up pretty well here I believe.

No chance Jurich rolls the dice with Petrino again. Louisville is a good enough program now that they can attract a decent coach. If Petrino ever gets another BCS job, it'll be at a desperate program that has fallen on hard times.

and he actually interviewed.... Unbelievable...
Leave it to Petrino to not communicate the truth to his AD

Louisville AD is a damn retard.
Their program was set back last time 3-4 years after Petrino left, and he will leave again. No doubt about it.
I bet Michael Dyer is uneasy about this.

It's a vicious cycle. Bret will go winless in the SEC next year and be fired and Petrino will be the head candidate for the job. Then we'll have another volleyball player to watch out for.

What a crazy sequence of events that is.
Dyer shuns Petrino/Arkansas for Auburn.
Dyer gets kicked out of Auburn.
Petrino gets fired from Arkansas.
Dyer winds up at Louisville.
Petrino gets Louisville job.
Speaking of, it seems like forever ago when Dyer chose Auburn over us. That was 2010 and here we are in 2014.

Yeah, the fact that Jurich even interviewed him shows how stupid he is. He was the fricking AD when Petrino was there the first time, and he had a front row seat to all the crap he pulled there (interviewing with Auburn and lying about it, seeking other jobs, asking for a long term contract and afterwards talking about retiring at Louisville and then bolting for the NFL).

Here's an angle I haven't seen discussed, let's say by some miracle BP gets his team in discussion for the CFB Playoff. You think Long, the committee chair, would look favorably on including them?

If Long wants to keep his job as chair and one day take Slive's job, he'll have to be objective

He'll never get Mike Slive's job.

I don't know he's putting an impressive resume together and the media loves him.
