I'm very sure. When we fired Heath, Marshall let it be known he wanted it, we hired Altman and then he backed out. We fired Pelphrey, he let it be known again, and Long interviewed both Marshall and Anderson, boosters wanted Anderson to settle things with Nolan and "bring back Hog ball" so he went that direction.
Now, Marshall makes 3.3 million now and WSU will bid to keep him, but if he still wants it, you gotta think Long makes that call and makes him a top 5 paid coach in the nation with top players coming in.

I have it on good authority that MA is on the hot seat RIGHT NOW, not a year from now pending another season's results or 2 years from now if things continue on, but literally today. Barring some sort of miracle turnaround or SEC tourney win, Long will pull the trigger.
Long may put on a happy face on Twitter and in interviews and act ho-hum about results, but that is 100% not the case. The man is all business behind closed doors, and not just money business. He and MA had a "come to Jesus" talk after Mizzou and came to some sort of understanding, which was promptly out the door after Vandy.
Shits about to go down, just remember where you saw it first.

With all fairness. That class was overrated AF.
Top 10 class and not a single dude even sniffed the league.
Don't hold that one over Mike's head.

Heard it here first?!?
Did you copy and paste that from tardville because this is the kind of garbage that gets posted over there and never comes to fruition.
I hope you're right and they only make a move with a no brainer hire locked up.
I love seeing Oregon in the perennial top 10. Glad our program is in much better shape than it was then.

well, one board member disagrees... another's kid does as well.
I for one, hope you are right at this time. I may change my mind after calming down a bit, either way....

And when he fails to accomplish anything with the upcoming classes, they will be considered overrated as well.

Actual talent and accomplishment are two different things.
Not defending him, just saying that class isn't fair. BJ Young was a 5 star and Macon is a better player than he ever was....
The current class/roster on the other hand.. We should be doing A LOT more.
Barford has NBA talent, Macon has pro level talent, as does Hannahs, Kingsley and at least 1-2 of the JUCO swing men.
Its pretty sad really.

I doubt any of those players sniffs the NBA. I don't have faith in MA, but this is a gross overestimate of our talent.

Barford could make it with some work. Easily has the body and the athleticism.
The rest I said "pro". Meaning overseas.

Barford doesn't strike me as having consistent above the rim athleticism. He's about on par with Wes Matthews.
Posted on 2/8/17 at 3:17 pm to ocelot4ark
Not sure where I wrote he was going to be a superstar but Wes Matthews is a 8 year pro making 16 Million/year.
My point was that none of the Pelphrey class even sniffed the NBA and I think Young is the only one doing anything of note even over seas.
There are guys on this team that will make a solid living playing ball. The talent is there.
Im done splitting hairs.

Bottom line is we've got the talent to do well in this shitty field of SEC teams. There are only 3 that are as talented as us or better. Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

Burford with work on his j will be a mid first late first rounder next year you can't teach his athletic ability and size and it will be A weak draft in 18. He would do well in Washington backing up wall. He has elite ability to get to the rim
Macon. Bbiq just ain't there, has PC size but is a sag that doesn't like contact.
Hannah's is an overrated shooter and can't do much else
Kingsley I don't see making it Bbiq isn't there isn't a rim protector either
I think beard won't get drafted but will stick sooner or later good size lefty and is a knock down shooter, takes contact well

Where did I say superstar, either? I'm refuting this claim on his athleticism.
Posted on 2/8/17 at 4:42 pm to vengeanceofrain
I believe that our players are talented enough that they SHOULD have beaten Missouri, SHOULD have beaten Vandy at home, and SHOULDN'T have been blown out like they were by Oklahoma State.
Are they world beaters? No, but better than what we saw in those three games.
It simply comes down to coaching.

Don't care, everyone's saying at least another 1-2 years on this forum (no idea what tardville is projecting) and I'm telling you what I'm hearing. There's plenty around here that think Long is a pushover only worried about APR and that is not the case.
I'm about the farthest thing from a reactionary typical HV idiot, and what I'm posting is not opinion that I'm trying to pass off as fact to be the cool kid. I'm trying to let everyone know that the situation isn't as hopeless as most believe.

That class was fricking terrible.
BJ Young was a ball hog, that didn't ever pass to teammates. His 3 point shot was the ugliest I've ever seen (it had no arc on it) The only thing he did well was driving to the rim and throwing up a wild shot with 4 defenders in his face.
Hunter Mikelson was a slow white kid, that couldn't do jack shite around the rim, he could't catch wide open passes either, he could barely even dunk. He transferred to Kansas and was a bench rider the whole time.
Aaron Ross never made it to campus.
Ky Madden was a turnover machine until his junior and senior year. He was the only player out of that class halfway decent.

That class should serve as a history lesson and reason why shouldn't keep a coach because a future class on paper.
