No, it's not. It's a fact.

quote:

There are numerous places that have no trouble pulling a stud RB every year despite loaded backfields.

When has Arkansas ever been that kind of place? Alex Collins a single 5 star RB was a once every 10 years type of get. Have we ever got a 5 star RB other than him? DMac was a 4 and Felix was a 3 right?

It's a cop out to expect something we've never seen and unrealistic.

Keep Thomas and smith to see how they work with our new OC, if they don't work out replace them next season. Better than replacing all 3 this year only to regret hiring them next year when they don't jive with your new OC.

Robb Smith isn't going anywhere. The Smith people are talking about is Michael Smith.

RS was the first coach to sign a contract extension.

It seems like Barrick Slaughter would commit to us the second he is offered. Not to mention there are a couple of 4* Texas backs that Thomas is in good with. He's going to have to really screw up to not land a top back in the next class.

Exactly, crazy that when there is PT actually available you can get recruits even as a mediocre recruiter that some label Thomas.

As I've said before, until we fail to sign a stud running back count me as not worried about our rb recruiting.

I trust Bert

RB is the one position I trust the state of Arkansas to provide us with regularly. Getting out of stater RBs is just bonus points

I could care less how many stars the RB's we recruit have. If there's one thing we know at Arkansas, it's what a good RB looks like. Whoever we bring in will produce. Always has, always will.

I went to Hogville and found this gem of a thread

I wouldn't mind seeing Qualls go get a few jump balls in the back of the end zone.

So, today at lunch on the same radio station..ESPN Hog Sports 99.5 here in Fyvl, they were continuing their talk about the rift between coach B and Chaney.

It's Mike Irwin that is saying this btw. He's covered AR sports for 40 years, and he's an older no nonsense kind of guy. His "source" has revealed that the big problems between coach B and Chaney were over playing Brandon Allen in the Mizzou game.

He goes on to say that his "source" has told him that he can't reveal which coach took which stance because in doing so it would reveal the source's identity.

I only caught a total of 15 mins of all of this, but Mike usually doesn't traffic much in outlandish rumors, and for a guy that has 40 + years of Razorback coverage, he would be one that I imagine would have good sources if anyone would.

I wouldn't be surprised if the source wasn't Lunney since he wad up in the booth with Chaney, or The Food Chain, if you will.

It seems, if there's any truth to this whatsoever, that Bielema must have been the one insisting on playing BA. If he didn't want him in, as the head coach, he would take him out regardless of Chaney.

I agree that that's how it seems, but if that is the case then it seems to go against everything that coach B supposedly stands for as far as player safety.

I remember an article after the game where he expressed regret for having kept Allen in.

But also, if this is the case, is that enough for Chaney to leave?

If it was bad enough for Chaney to leave, and he was that concerned about a player's safety, he should have left during the Mizzou game. Otherwise, it's just a disagreement between two different coaches (IMO). (GOOD) Organizations will have open discussions, and disagreements will be more common than not.

FWIW - I'm not in the know, and you guys are my sources - so...

i have a source as well... Yep, Chaney and Bert had a couple of disagreements, one mainly following the Mizzou game.

But nothing to lend itself to Chaney heading out the door without CBB Knowing...

That is crap... Period... The interesting part will be if others leave as well. We haven't seen this as of yet.. have we?
