He's easily the worst media member of the recruiting guys. How he's managed to stay in business for so long is beyond me. He's lazy as hell presently.

How did Otis catch on to be part of the media? Anyone know his story?

I think RD posted on messageboards or something before he caught on at the ADG.

Can't remember how West hooked on at Rivals.
Not sure on Biddy either.

Dudley had connections after being a bball manager I guess.

Didn't he just put together some kind of recruiting newsletter from his coop in Elkins or something like that?

RD started at Hogville back when I was posting over there. He was just some random guy who all of a sudden started calling recruits and posting their conversations.

I watch his recruiting bit on Sundays on KNWA. He's got the personality of a wet hay bale?

He was on a radio show one day during lunch. They were talking to him and he was slurring pretty bad and sounded sort of out of it. They asked him a question, and after a long pause one guy was like, "Otis?...Otis?....Uhmmm kay guys, Otis just took a phone call and has apparently stepped out of the room. That must have been a very important call."

10 mins...later:

"Okay, guys..update on Otis Kirk. He has left the studio, and won't be returning for the rest of the interview. He must have stumbled upon some breaking news on the recruiting trail."

Scott discussed the Arkansas offensive coordinator job on FootballScoop Radio last night. One college assistant that we have heard Bielema has considered is Georgia’s tight ends coach John Lilly.

Lilly would allow us to shift Lunney to QB's while adding the best TE coach in the SEC. Not a bad move if his one game of calling plays wasn't just smoke and mirrors.

John Lilly was named tight ends coach at UGA on Jan. 24, 2008, after serving as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Florida State University from 1998-2007.
I like the sound of that.

quote:

Lilly has also headed up the Bulldogs' punt team since his arrival in Athens and in 2009 the unit, led by Consensus All-American and Ray Guy Award winning Punter Drew Butler, was first in the nation in Net Punting with an average of 41.95 yards per punt. In 2010 Georgia finished fourth nationally in Net Punting with a 40.6 yard average. He also works with the Bulldog kickers including current Vikings kicker Blair Walsh and UGA All-SEC first team kicker Marshall Morgan.

Also a plus.

Getting an OC who can recruit Florida means we don't have to look for a LB coach who can recruit Florida.

The Arkansas offensive coordinator job has officially been open for a week now, but Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema has known of Jim Chaney’s desire to leave Fayetteville for close to a month now. Chaney pursued the Texas A&M offensive line job (presumably with Bielema’s knowledge – and perhaps with his encouragement), which was filled by former Utah offensive coordinator Dave Christensen on Christmas night.

Beat me to it -- I heard Josh Bertaccini talking about it on the radio this morning, but he wouldn't ever expound on where it came from or whether it's legit.

Not that you all couldn't find it but you may come across the australian rock musician or cricketeer first. :)

Michigan State ranked seventh in the nation in third-down conversation rate at 50 percent, and Warner's play-calling helped the Spartans finish No. 1 in time of possession and No. 2 in the country in turnover margin.

Further, Michigan State was No. 19 in rushing and No. 22 in pass efficiency. That's about as balanced as any offense in the nation.

Would be a solid hire, imo. I enjoy watching Michigan State.
