Can you NWA people get him out next election cycle please. I get wanting to force able bodied individuals off the government payroll but you do not do it at the expense of children.

quote:

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson warns that if Arkansas Works funding is not passed, a $10.9 million funding cut to the state’s foster care system is possible as indicated by the House’s proposed alternative budget released today. In order to achieve a $10.9 million reduction, the Department of Human Services (DHS) would be forced to cut the current number of Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) staff by approximately 255 positions – 168 caseworkers and investigators, 31 supervisors and 56 program assistants. Those cuts would cause average caseloads to go from 29 to 48. It’s important to note that DCFS was sued in the early 1990s, in part because of the high caseloads. That suit resulted in the state being under court-ordered monitoring for several years.

Not only does it screw up the foster care system it causes a cut in funding to ArKids

Cut funding everywhere needed as long as Little Rock gets the new flyover the ghetto.

Mean while a direct route to the port of Houston is put on hold because of the tax revenue it would generate and the bypass of LR it would create.

The idiot I also complaining because the money used to fund the private option would free up more money for AHTD. Heaven forbid we spend more on infrastructure in this state. Until recently I spent most of my life driving on the worst roads in the country. Since the sales tax passage and more budget appropriations it has improved substantially. Sucks you NWA folks have horrible politicians that hack off the AHTD and get out to the end of the line.

Imagine if he actually advocated for funding for them as long as some major projects get out to the frontier of the line.

More money spent on other peoples kids.

Probably 1/2 of the tax money I pay each year is spent on other peoples kids. Starting to get old honestly.

I don't keep up with AR politics much anymore. Is this the same piece of shite that tried to protect Duggar?

Yes

quote:

A state senator from Northwest Arkansas is calling for the Springdale police chief to be fired over the recent release of a 2006 police report detailing accusations that Josh Duggar as a teenager molested five underage girls.

Sen. Bart Hester, R-Cave Springs, said the girls have been re-victimized now that the report is public. He said Police Chief Kathy O’Kelley acted recklessly in releasing the report and should be held accountable.

“The law to protect minors’ identities is not a suggestion,” Hester, pictured, said Saturday (May 23). “So sad to see the person charged with protecting the community being so reckless and irresponsible. I believe it is unavoidable that the Springdale police chief should be terminated. She has re-victimized these young ladies.”

Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse said O’Kelley and Springdale City Attorney Ernest Cate determined after researching the matter that the report had to be released under law.

“From every indication I have the chief and city attorney reluctantly did what they had to do to comply with the state FOI (freedom of information) law,” Sprouse said Saturday (May 23).

Old Bart is so worried about these minors being "re-victimized"... But he doesn't give a frick that his buddy Josh was the person who victimized them in the first place!

Also this" lawmaker" apparently doesn't understand the FOIA laws in Arkansas. That is the one area of the law where all public officials should be up to snuff

Between Bart flogging this shite in LR and Armani Ronnie pounding his fists from the Cash Church pulpit, this little gang of Duggar acolytes has quite the racket going

* Medical care for the aged, disabled, and the blind, covering 142,077 people. This includes the elderly in nursing homes and people with severe disabilities.

* ARKids, providing coverage for more than 400,000 low-income kids.

* Home and community-based services for 11,000 elderly people and people with severe physical disabilities.

* Medical services for nearly 5,000 foster children (the Division of Children and Family Services is not part of the relevant Medical Services appropriation, but medical care for many foster children is funded via the Medicaid budget).

* TEFRA, a Medicaid program that provides care to disabled children in their homes. Hester's game of chicken threatens funding to help families with children with severe health challenges such as cerebral palsy and wheelchair-bound children. (I am waiting on DHS to provide a precise number of families impacted.)

* Funding to help more than 60,000 elderly Medicare beneficiaries with care and costs not covered by Medicare.

* Coverage for thousands of extremely poor parents of dependent children.

* Coverage for more than 10,000 low-income pregnant women who are not otherwise covered by the private option.

* Closure of the 250-bed Arkansas Health Center, a public nursing home that takes patients that few or no other nursing homes will take, such as patients on a ventilator and patients with severe cognitive dysfunction.

* State hospitals that provide care for civilly committed patients having acute and severe behavioral health crises would lose 30 beds.

There is what Bart and his band of whack job tea partiers wants to kill

I hope he gets voted out next go around. I'll volunteer to canvas for whoever opposes him

He's scum. There is no way around it. Look...

Ten or so million in extra taxes is nothing to sneer at, even spread around the state. We will all kick in some to make this work.

But its money well spent. This is not ten million spent for... say... covering the legal fees of people who abused the adoption agency and then "regifted" their adopted children to pedophiles. Some of us, through no fault of our own, will find ourselves particularly vulnerable in times of need.

Well... that's why we pay taxes for this sort of thing. This we can cover. It is part of the social contract we have has a state and civilized nation.

If you can't, and I mean well and truly can't, support yourself (particularly after a life spent doing so) then yes, we should take up the slack until you can or you've passed away.

I'm no great lover of "welfare queens" but not everyone that needs a hand is someone we should sneer at. There, but for the Grace of God, Go I.

The helpless, elderly, and very young should not be the targets of scorn and abuse. We are Arkansas. We take care of our own.

That is terrible. No family should be faced with such a burden.

If this doesn't pass it will destroy the economy here. In states in which expansion didn't pass it decimated rural hospitals and made them close down. Arkansas is full of rural areas. You do the math.

You are preaching to the choir. NW Arkansas and Little Rock will stagger a bit and then take up the slack with higher local taxes. The rest of the state is screwed.

This is amazingly dumb.
