Let's say Mike did this.

Let's also say Monk came in and looked to drop 50 every night and do what ever else necessary to improve his draft stock and showcase himself.

Let's also say that recruiting for this year and next suffered as it would have compared to what Scotty has done.

Let's assume the love me some me from Monk disrupts the team and they struggle to make the nit if that.

Would you give Mike a pass for selling out the program and the future of the program for the next couple of seasons just so you can say Monk played at Arkansas a year before going to the NBA?

Of course not.

Cal is able to make the one and dones work within his system as he can threaten benching them and no one in the fanbase will bat an eye because other talented players are waiting for their shot at more playing time. Few other programs have this luxury at this time.

I'm actually more concerned about losing Mayberry from the staff than Monk to Kentucky.

It would be ideal for tj or Melvin to land a hc job after this season to make room for lee and Scotty to both be on the bench.

The recruiting might suffer and he would drop a 50 a night. But there is no reason to think having a super star would disrupt team chemistry. You want the best players possible. If Mike didn't think he would be a good fit he wouldn't have offered him. We also might get the same level of recruits when they see we make it to the sweet 16 and have a top 5 pick in the draft. We will never know.

So you are ok with players and their families from this state feeling they are owed extra to play for Arkansas than what is owed from conference opponents of Arkansas?

It has been a reoccurring theme for the highly national ranked players from this state in all sports.

Personally I will take the Portis's and Macon's who do whatever necessary to fulfill their dream of playing on the hill before giving any extras to those who think it is owed to keep them from Kentucky....

Idc where there from. If they are a top 10 talent in any given sport and they say they'll come here if we give there brother a spot on the staff (jeez we could find somewhere to stick him for a year) then yes, it's wrth it. Paying him 50k like one poster said is a different story because when you start actually cheating you end up like Ole miss. I love Macon and portis

He wanted a spot on the bench, not with the support staff.

Bench spots are in limited supply.

There isn't much difference in doing what you propose and hiring your mistress to the support staff. You are willing to fire a more qualified person and hire a less qualified person over other more qualified candidates for short term limited gain with it being a fresh piece of arse or a player who will be on campus for a year max.

Keith went to OK to get a ring and go to the league ( probably got paid to) but he still loved the hogs. That's why 2 of his 3 sons ate razorbacks and not sooners. That's my only thing against telling these guys to leave and never come back. Most of these top talents will have multiple off spring. If the state of Kentucky really doesn't give a shite about them after they graduate good. Maybe we can get all of the little monks 20 years down the road.

this past nba draft, only 2 out of the 13 picks came from parents who didn't have at least one professional athlete.

The NFL has shown that you can play for shite state and it won't matter. They will find you.

I never really understood the logic about getting worked up over something that doesn't matter at this point and can't be changed. I can understand how it would leave a bad taste in peoples' mouth with how it was handled by his brother.
