According to an email I got from the University yesterday, they still have "lower level" season tickets available.

Just too much to do in tRock, hill people get distracted. Only reasonable explanation.

Pathetic. especially considering we're ranked now and are putting a good product on the field.

At some point in the mid 90s, NWA fans started making up a large portion of the tickets sold in Little Rock. Gradually, those fans have mostly stopped going down there.
In short, it's our fault.

and Wally Hall has been making excuses for days.
LR's really showing out and letting everyone know how much they support the Hogs.
I saw a stat that 71% of the people that come to a game in Fayetteville are from out of the area.
I also saw a stat that says there are 8500 hotel rooms and 97 hotels in Benton/Washington counties. Those rooms have around a 68-70% occupancy rate.
If all of the rooms are booked w/ hog game attendees, let's say an average of 2.75 people to a room. Which is 23,375 people. Last season's average attendance was about 68,000, 71% of that is 48,280.
Something doesn't add up. 25,000 drive up same day and go back home after the game? I'm sure a lot do, but not 35% of the stadium's entire capacity.
The stated number of fans from outside of NWA is almost enough to sell out WMS. There's more students on campus than the mystery 25,000 fans that supposedly drive back and forth on game day.
If 48K fans actually come from outside of NWA to watch the hogs in RRS, then no way in hell should there only be 40,000 tickets sold, and I'm expecting of that 40,000 sold at least 70% to be season ticket holders, presumably from NWA.

I have no idea of the number, but I've been to 50+ games in Fayetteville and have stayed overnight less than 10 times. Very, very few people that I know stay the night after a Fayetteville game. There is really no reason to being that I (and many of my friends) been to several weeknight basketball games despite having to work the following day.

Having "all" of the NWA hotel rooms filled with football fans would assume that they are completely empty every other weekend of the year.
Hotels here are generally lower-occupancy on weekends, like they are in almost all areas with business travelers. But they aren't empty on weekends without Hog fans.

That's because it's bullshite.
People in NWA and Fort Smith have more incentive to buy season tickets because they, or someone they know, will always be able to use their tickets. That doesn't make them "better fans", it's just reality. Businesses as well as individuals in NWA get a lot more out of season tickets than people living in Little Rock do.
It's a strange complex that comes from down there. They fail to recognize that just between NWA and Fort Smith metros, you're talking about nearly 800,000 people.

The last two years really destroy the two BS excuses that people have given for the lack of attendance at WMS games.
Excuse 1 -- the opponents are cupcakes, give us a good game
Retort -- last year's WMS game was against Georgia, who was ranked #10 in the country.
Excuse 2 -- we don't want to show up when the Hogs are bad
Retort -- we're a consensus top 20 team, currently ranked #18.
I grew up in East Arkansas going to War Memorial games. My son's first birthday party was held in the press box. However, the above 2 excuses are complete bull shite.

Same as above, I live in the Hot Springs area and always come back and don't stay the night, at wms or dwrrs.

It really is an easy drive from NWA to most of the state. The Eastern part of the state maybe not but Little Rock and a good chunk of everything else is a very doable drive.

ohh for fureeeak sakes, this is BS pure and simple.
Funny how the only seats available on UofA site for the past week have been EZ and nothing close to 10 grand...
And I was told yesterday by a WMS official and a RTS official that less than 3grand were left.
Much ado about jach Snit!
Next topic Alex!

There won't be anywhere close to 10,000 empty seats in LR today. Maybe 3,000 to 5,000.
About like DWRRS last week.
