If we drop A&M in OT, and Bama, Auburn and TCU(the 3 top 15 games on our schedule) and go 8-4

As frustrated as I am, I think biggest issues have been with the young receiving corp and they at least started to show up this weekend.

8-4 seems so far away right now.
It would give CBB another year most likely though.
Most people did not predict an 8 win year, so that would be over achieving most expectations.

We should have beaten aTm. Really.
TCU, as it turns out, is a pretty good team - but it's how we looked against them.

The biggest thing we are missing right now is adequate play at the tackle position.

As many issues as we have position-wise, both losses so far have been made 100x worse by our shoddy conditioning (TCU especially if you're solely looking at the effect it had on the score).

By the end of the TCU game our guys were gassed and it lead to mistakes that made that game look a lot worse than it actually was, but we still would've lost. We probably would've won by at least a TD yesterday if it weren't for our guys getting gassed, mostly the D.

I know we can lift weights with the best of them, I just want to know what kind of cardio workouts we do and if they under-condition them there. I could see them working so hard to develop these under-taught pure athletes into their positions and teach new schemes that they don't have enough time to have a 100% run-only practice day or extended amounts of cardio.

I know our lack of depth has a lot to do with us wearing out too, but TAMU played largely the same freshmen all day (ie no depth there either) and TCU substituted less than we did.
Whatever it is, it seems we've had this conditioning issue for CBBs entire tenure and there's been several games that could've gone very differently if we didn't wear out.

Wrong

Quick count says 37 of them did

Is it possible, our offense looked bad because their defense is really good? Okie lite looked terrible offensively vs them.

I disagree. We look deflated after the missed fg's

I bring all this up, because, I'm convinced 8 wins is still do-able and that would be better than Vegas had us and better or in-line with everyone's pre-seasons expectations

I honestly can't see more than 5 total wins

NMS
CC
USCjr
MIZZOU

Maybe, just maybe, we beat LSU for 6 win season

I honestly don't know, what little bit I'm hearing, one side says he's safe and some saying he's probably gone. Don't have very many connections since I withdrew my financial support.

I would bet a lot of money that most people 'connected' are just speculating. Jeffrey runs a tight ship.

This is true. What little I do hear is from someone that would've heard EVERYTHING in his position in the past, now he has to even dig around for info. It's a good thing unless you're in limbo just wanting to really know what's going on like right now.

This guy is sure that CBB won't make it to next season if we end up in the 6-6 or worse area, but admittedly I'm not sure what concrete evidence is backing his claim.

I think 5 he's gone, 6 he's safe, but either way I think he's gone by end of next year. Even if he ends up finishing respectably this year, he will have a new job lined by end of 18

What a lot don't realize is that we're able to pay out CBBs buyout over 5 years if we should choose, and that's whether it's at the max amount or the roughly $8mm after Jan 1st. Its also offset by his new salary should he take another job afterward. I wouldn't be too terribly surprised to see a negotiation done on the buyout terms between UofA, CBB, and a new program either.

I've been assured over and over again that the buyout is not holding back any decisions whatsoever.

If We end up with Gus like that one guy suggested I guess I'll just bust out the because the melt will be insane.

Also our qb play will be shite.

Gus is NOT the answer, God I hope that's not the actual plan! Not only would he fail spectacularly here, it would be a mess to fire him and would sink us for another 10-ish years at least. He's having issues getting talented pieces in important spots at AUBURN with a somewhat recent NC and fertile recruiting territory, wtf is he gonna do here??

Not to mention we'd have all the AU fans on our nuts for shitting on him constantly and claiming we didn't want Gus this whole time.

It would never be Gus. That is just dumb.

Lol I know others are smart enough to see he is failing with better recruits. He couldn't get it done here.

I hope to God its not Gus for a litany of reasons, most of which have already been touched on in the posts above this one. However, I'm a flat out whore for Razorback athletics, so I'll talk myself into it in about 5 minutes if it's him.

I can hear it now. Well he played here. This is his alma mater. It's where he wants to be. He just loves that helmet, and he is an arkansas guy.

You know it's almost like I don't even remember how weird his wife is, and frick I love waffle house too.

We will finally have a dual threat qb, and frick me running if we won't actually go out and get some coaches that can actually recruit.

This will be the whore in all of us, while we flick our collective beans.

It won't be as tough of a sale as you think.

"Stealing" a coach of a top15 team from a division rival.

Bringing the hometown guy back "home" who has won the west and SEC. Gus will sign anyone remotely FCS level from Arkansas and go to Texas and Oklahoma to try to fill out his classes.

Makes some big money extremely happy, settles the "what if" for others good or bad.

He gets to claim he's leaving on his own publicly, Auburn gets to avoid the "delusional unrealistic expectations" perception in firing 3 consecutive successful coaches from their program for not being as good as Saban, etc.

All of this has been played out before for Arkansas, twice actually, but they get to be on the receiving end this time, joy.

Will Long play ball or will he piss of a few in order to satisfy a larger percentage of the fanbase and money?

I don't think Gus would ever be offered the job, but I do think he would win here and win early.
