10, and 7 yard cushions on 4th and 3....

Well this thread gives me hope that if we continue to flounder we will not have to endure this for another year.

I was losing my fricking mind about those massive cushions all game, but never more than on 4th and 3.

That has to be Bert staple, because we've been doing that shite for 5 years now.

We don't want to get burned on 4th and 3.

I've heard of of a donor pledging the buyout and the terms attached would lead us to being in OM's situation in 2008 but with the excitement of hiring an established sec coach held within a small portion of a small corner ofnthr state vs the entire fanbase...

I can't keep up with this. Nutt was the OM coach in 2008, but his time in MS proved he was not an established SEC coach. The small corner vs. the entire fanbase sounds like Gus.

Regardless, if it's either if those two, I hope Long sticks to his guns.

That was a perfect example of playing not to lose. We gave them a first down and basically conceded going to OT because of that fear of getting beat

Anywho.... We will beat some folks that we think there isn't a chance to beat.

I think you're right. Things are such now that we can throw caution to the wind and take alot of chances that we would normally be too tense to attempt.

I hope we embarrass the crap out of Gus and Auburn. Then LSU.

Don't think we beat Auburn considering how good their DL is and that our weakness on defense seems to be against rushes up the middle. Can definitely beat LSU though. They're in a bad spot right now.

Auburn should be somewhat beatsble because their offense is definitely off kilter, but that defensive line is stout and might send Austin to the hospital given our new matador blocking scheme. Also, Gus owns Bert and circles that game every year, so there's that.

LSU is beatable, and Bert has shown he can go into Death Valley and punch them in the mouth, so who knows.

All I know is that I literally have no clue about this season from here on out. Nothing between 8-4 and 4-8 would surprise me.

Pulley was the only DB that we had that could possibly play man.

Our floundering defense in year 5 is on fat arse
Piss poor recruiting, evaluating and developing.

Curl and Calloway should allow us to be more flexible on D in the future... But going back to what you said, we could have the Broncos secondary and they would get beat due to our lack of pass rush.

If you don't already know, the D line makes your back 7. If they can't get pressure and consume blockers, your D is fricked.

Of course in the 3-4, you rely on a lb to help the dl. Ramsey has been OK, but he's no Von Miller.

We'll have Bielema this year and next year, at least. His buyout will dictate that

No, we won't if the current trajectory stays the same. CBB is 110% coaching the rest of the season for his job now. A little bit of it depends on what other programs are looking too, but I can assure you the winds of change are ablowin' in NWA as we speak.

I've heard the biggest donor lives in Dallas but it's not Jerry Jones. I'll leave it at that.

Not necessarily the biggest donor, but a few/group that can pool the money in an instant and want to badly. One of them includes Jones by an "alias" from my understanding. He doesn't want the attention for having his hands in the program like that.

But word is Jerry doesn't like Bielema or Long.

More so CBB than Long. He likes Long on a business level but thinks CBB is a "buffoon." He also thinks JL isn't tuned into the "Arkansas way" but really likes how he operates and thinks he's sharp on the business side. I've been told this by others who know Long as well. My guy also says JJ has a very old school mentality when it comes to how the program should be ran and wants people with Arkansas connections in every corner.

ETA- just putting that last sentence together with the previous post about Gus and realizing where this could be heading... Uggggghhhhhhhh

Things are going to get very interesting if the course doesn't correct itself. I'm not sure if CBB could save himself at all at this point, it's just a matter of when it'll happen. There's too much unrest from the people that matter for Long to ignore, and he's supposedly leaning more and more to their side lately.

I could be wrong on the 4th and 3, someone correct me if I am, but that wasn't our pre snap coverage. We were closer to line until A&M appeared to audible and when then gave the cusion. My guess is we changed coverage thinking they were going deep and just made a bad call. Had we lined up like that from the start I'd have been a lot more pissed.

Thinking they were going deep on 4th and 3??!?

Even Rumlin isn't that stupid.

It was retarded. I had zero doubt the entire game we would find a way to lose. Me and the 50 other hog fans watching in the tent in Nashville at Pilgrimage fest. Sad how demoralized our fan base is.
