It's been brought up on 40/29 twice already and they haven't even really got to it yet.

I can't believe how rustled some of you are over this. It's really not that big of a deal. I'm sure you guys are just as mad when you go to a NASCAR race and you see a Confederate flag on the same flag pole as the US flag. "But by gawd at least he's a-standin' while the Anthem plays!?!?!!!!"

Caveat: Am a major NASCAR fan. Have been an officer in the US military for more than a decade. Still don't care if this is how they choose to express themselves.

I get that people have died over that flag so it's a touchy subject, but to get so mad you want someone fired or like what our representatives have done, talk about defunding the program, is beyond ignorant. The athletes who are protesting have explicitly stated they mean no disrespect to the military. Why are you offended? Is it because you refuse to believe that an action can mean something else than what you perceive it to be? Because that's the only logical conclusion I can come up with to still be offended. Even if you think it's dumb I don't know how you get upset. A big catalyst for the American Revolution was started over the Boston Massacre where I believe somewhere around 10 protesters died? They were also throwing rocks at the British soldiers who were also police at that time. African American men are being killed unarmed and many times without even attempting to threaten the officer (Walter Scott). If you have a problem with people protesting what they consider unjust deaths, you're pretty much not a real American. Look at what they're protesting about and stop getting worked up over a made up narrative.

All of Arkansas' basketball players stood during national anthem tonight before Hogs game vs Emporia State.

Bob Holt ?@BobHoltADG 5m5 minutes ago
Players stayed standing a minute or so after anthem ended and got a big ovation from crowd.

Shows what a POS Dykes is.

Thank you CMA

And this is a small percentage of police officer involved shootings.

The PoPo kills more whitey than the minorities each year.

I'm honestly confused about why this is difficult for you to understand, as this is the underlying principle of our national philosophy. Our founders believed that every person on earth had these rights inherently--that these rights are not granted to them by any other individual. They are birthrights on virtue of being human.

Actually, these rights were only available to land owning white males, as originally written...

Kapernick has started wearing and referencing more and more Black Panther Party propaganda, the notion and idea of black supremacy is laughable, historically. He obviously feels he lost his job because of the color of his skin for the position he plays not because he wasn't performing on the field, so he found away to get all the attention as no one pays attention to the man holding the clipboard on the sidelines during a game.

I'm definitely not outraged. I just see it for what it is. Kap got a shite ton of publicity for doing it now everyone else wants their 15 minutes.

And it's not even remotely close.

quote:

Cops killed nearly twice as many whites as blacks in 2015. According to data compiled by The Washington Post, 50 percent of the victims of fatal police shootings were white, while 26 percent were black. The majority of these victims had a gun or "were armed or otherwise threatening the officer with potentially lethal force," according to Mac Donald in a speech at Hillsdale College.

It is legal, its just misguided angst from the entirely wrong crowd.

The crowd demonstrating is well off financially and/or getting a free higher education.

They are confusing "racism" with the real root of the problem, outside of the thug culture that is popular among their youth, economic problem.

Several have tried to convey plans to correct the issue, yet it falls on deaf ears, the areas that have had these "killings" have all came from poor communities with the "victim" often finding themselves having committed a crime or were stopped in the act of a crime.

The protesters see this as "trying to survive" instead of being a disobedient citizen. You know who doesn't have a problem with police interaction? Those who go to work everyday, those who earn what they want instead of trying to take it from their neighbor or hustle the streets.

So what these communities need is jobs for the population, however, generations of government dependence has lead to a culture of entitlement where they feel as they do not have to work and should be given their desires for the wrongs committed to their ancestors...

comparing NASCAR to a public state funded university is a terrible comparison and extremely bigoted.

I don't get as riled up as some about this simply because I don't want to give it more attention- and getting attention is what it's all about. That said, I am very proud of these guys and Mike.

Didn't read any of this but would I be correct in assuming that a bunch of second amendment supporters are upset that people are exercising their first amendment rights?

Also, Air Force veteran here. It's not that big of a deal. And if you want to get into that, technically we protect the constitution not a song.
