I thought it was well known that he likes to get hammered.

He's always drank heavily I don't care as long as he wins and doesn't embarrass the program. Plenty of ultra successful alcoholic coaches in football history.

Bret likes to drink so did Pitt, I've been around both of them plenty. Bret always has a driver and isn't anywhere close to risking anything. Pitt was Bret's best on staff friend Pitt lied to Bret, heck Pitt lied to anyone including me about he would never leave Bret. Of course that was before Chaney got the can, and make no mistake Chaney got canned. The riff came after Pitt lied to Bret, now Pitt has trashed Bret to make himself look good. Bret doesn't hit on anyone that's BS and I've been around enough to know. Now on to more of the Days of Our Coaching Lives. One thing for sure Bret needs to start winning and nobody will even question any of this normal social activity.

Regardless of what was said, I don't think any Arkansas fan would disagree with that.

You would be wrong about nobody having contact. Bret likes to have a drink, but he doesn't get behind the wheel. This is one of those deals where if you or I did what he is doing then it's no problem, but when we aren't winning it will be thrown out there. He probably needs to chill a tad when out in public

The OP is how unsubstantiated rumours get started and keep going. Sprinkle in a little truth with the lies.

"Bret likes to eat food and kill people."

"Well he does like to eat so that entire statement must be true..."

I can't believe Bret likes to kill people. That's just fricked up.

It's really only a problem when you show up drunk to job functions.

When you aren't performing to expectations you are left to your own vices for destruction as happened to BCG and Sutton at Kentucky. Both has their behavior covered at prior and post stops.

Give us a "true"situation when Bret has shown a drinking problem or any other problem while with you...

I'm interested to know..

I said what he is doing is not a problem. It's only a problem because he is not winning. When people are upset with him they are going to spin things to be worse than they are. If he get a little tipsy in public the stories will get embellished with each telling.

So what we read on the internet from random fans or haters should be discarded.

All I am saying is he needs to be careful in public. If he is seen having a drink on Monday and we lose on Saturday some morons are going to say he has a drinking problem rather than just saying his game plan sucked.

The other problem is there are fans who honestly believe their antics and childish behavior on the internet got Nutt fired...

While Pel is far from a perfect person, and I would hope he got his problem under control, the dog story after his 2 win sec season still makes me laugh because it's shows the length some think their opinions and the internet matters.

a friend of ours dated one of CBB's assistants a couple of years back, they enjoyed going to Lake Hamilton quite a bit. Drinking was enjoyed on several levels.

However, there was always someone driving the boat who hadn't had a single drink. He parties a bit, not overwhelming though. and with forethought.

Now... Here is the deal. being a coach is difficult when not winning enough. Folks will come up with all kinds of things to mow you down. Grasping at straws imho.

He has not less than 2 years here period, most likely 3-4 regardless of record. AT THIS TIME. Buyout coupled with some promises made to him and his future family, etc.
