So we made it through bye without a loss and the rest of the SEC looks pretty awful as well. The Ags look horrible and the fan in me thinks we blow the doors off them.

The realist in me sees us going up 28-0 at half, followed by the annual come back and make Bert look Bertish.

Here's to the Hogs turning it around

He is here till the end of the season and likely the next.

On one hand I'd love to fire him but on the other it looks like half of the SEC is going to be shopping around for head coaches this year. Its going to be a seller's market out there.

We would have to offer a big salary and a huge buyout to get an average coach this year I fear.

Main reason I'm just going to support the team and not be miserable about it.

Way to remain positive, but we both know we're still in for surprises.

I have a feeling that our game against aTm is going to be just like the Derp Bowl that TN and FL played yesterday.

I can hardly contain my excitement. If Arkansas loses, the melts will be interesting.

Impossible...buyout is $15.4 million until 2018 then it falls to $7.9 million. Will it be possible to can him then?

If we tank this year, he's gone. People make a bigger deal of the buyout than it is.

If this year is really shitty yeah he'll be gone at the end of the year. The ultimate determinant is fans not showing up for games. Empty seats always get a coach fired.

I think you misread the article you linked, though it is worded oddly.

The buyout goes down to $11.7 million in January of 2018, $7.9 million in 2019, and hits a floor of $4 million in 2020.

However, one thing to point out is that it won't cost Bert or a new school much to buy him out should he want to move on of his own volition. His self-buyout is as follows:
Jan 1, 2017 - $2 million
Jan 1, 2018 - $1 million
Jan 1, 2019 - $500k
Jan 1, 2020 - $250k

Reddit CFB post of Bert's actual contract doc

Well crap this article on CBS must have it wrong then?

"As illustrated by ArkansasFight.com, the contract's buyout terms are extremely friendly to Bielema, who would be owed $15.4 million if he's fired any time before 2018 and a minimum of $7.9 million if if he's fired any time before 2020."

That will change if the Hogs go on a 5+ game losing streak.

Not really, they just worded it oddly.

They are essentially just pointing out that it starts out at a max of $15.4 million (2015 through 2017), and never goes below $7.9 million until 2020. They just omitted the reduction to $11.7 million in 2018

I've been screaming this at the top of my lungs for months now and no ones listening. And I hear it from someone that would know.
