The defense gave up the most rushing yards in program history against Auburn of all programs. In the paper today they said the previous high was 505 yards given up to Rice in 1947.

That was a season where the players left on campus were washed out of the military or had a physical ailment that kept them from WWII service.

Good job Cap.

Ellis probably goes down as the worst 3 year starter the program has ever had which compounds as he's been seen as the leader of the unit and voted captain a couple seasons in a row. He's the one that is our best option at setting alignments, making calls and calling adjustments. The defense keeps looking more and more lost each game and the results are showing the lack of leadership within the team.

When your captain can't make the right read half the time, how can we expect the young linebackers and the rest of the team to play well?

The must rushing yards in school history.... in 2016 when most opponents are spread passing teams.

chew on that for a bit.

I agree with your assessment of Ellis but I think your history is off

You could probably go back to the Petrino years and find someone worse

Do y'all not realize that if we as fans can clearly see how bad a player is, that the coaches DEFINITELY see how bad said player is? They see these guys in practice every day, on film, and in games constantly - they KNOW he's not that great. Assuming the aforementioned, one would have to reason that we'd be starting anyone with a pulse that's better in any way, shape, or form and we clearly don't have that person around, at least at this time.

Yes, that falls on recruiting which is the coaching staff's job. But when was the last time we had a decent LB corps, even on paper? For whatever reason we've never been able to recruit elite DBs of any kind, but you could say it's actually improving (albeit slowly) under CBB. I don't remember ever having decent corners or young, serviceable LBs so much so that our backfield being a cobbled together mess is almost expected year in and year out.

Sometimes you've just got to let CV get it out.

I see where you're going with this but unfortunately our defense isn't limited to just Ellis's incredible ability to get burned on most plays. Our defense (minus our DBs) is one big steamy pile of bad Taco Bell shite. Ellis just takes most of the heat because he's the captain.

2006 was the last "elite" DB corp, they and the Dline masked the hoshposh undersized LB corp.

The last time we had a good LB/DB squad would probably be the late 90s comprised mainly of Ford's last recruiting efforts.

It's been extra tough on CV this month because he's also a strong Trump supporter or he would probably say a strong Hillary hater.

At least I have the poli board to go spew my football frustrations on the clueless over there.

Got to be doubly tough to be a Razorback fan and a Trump fan right now.

Deer season is right around the corner.

If you've been a Hog fan long, you know the drill. You have more than one hobby in the fall. It's how you cope.

I need to take up deer hunting for that very reason. I'm a lifelong duck hunter, and the only downside is that opening day is always on the second-to-last weekend of CFB season, so I've usually had 10+ weeks of heartache.

Can't be slow and out of position on every play. Ellis has seen that offense for several years now. He should have known what to expect. Same with the dline of upper classman underacheivers.
