I'm thinking the bikers should find somewhere nicer to go, where not so much of the population were total dicks.
That's exactly what I'm saying, take their money somewhere else. They should move the event to Hot Springs, a lot more stuff to do there anyways.
The people down there won't be crying about "OMG, that biker rev'd up his bike and his pipes were Sooooooo Looouuud".
Pussies being pussies

They could hold it anywhere that has nice place to ride, really. The majority of bikers aren't really interested in the local culture of the rally's location. They bring their own culture with them via the carney-like traveling circus that rolls into town with a bike rally. They pretty much set up their own city within the host city and stick to that, occasionally venturing out for rides into the countryside throughout the day, only to return and spend their money with the traveling vendors. These traveling vendors aren't paying local sales tax, but they are probably paying some permitting fees that help out the city. Hotels, gas stations, and some select bars also benefit quite a bit from the rally. Retail stores and quite a few restaurants don't, though, as the bike crowd spends their money with the traveling vendors instead.
BBBQ doesn't really bother me, though. We usually take our kids down to Dickson on Thursday night for some high quality people watching. Then we use the rally as an excuse to get away from town and out into the woods, which is hard for us to do in the Fall.

Please, start the campaign. I'll donate to that cause.

See, you guys just keep proving to me that bikers are all assholes.
Tell you what. I'll be in front of your house the next four nights in a row. I'm bringing a set of speakers like they use at the stadium and couple of air horns and a big bass drum. I'm going to be setting off the horns, cranking loud music and beating the drum at random intervals, say every 4 to 5 minutes, up until 4 am.
You're a pussy if you are bothered by it, even if it keeps you awake all night.

Its a festival, stop being a whiny little bitch. Go pawn your xbox and stay somewhere else for the weekend if you don't like it or grow a pair of balls and deal with it.
Btw, I'm not a biker and never will be.

Well you're an a-hole anyway.
You think everybody in Fayetteville is a pussy. We've dealt with this "festival" (which is really just a bunch of sorry Okies revving pipes and basically taking a big shite right in the middle of our town for nearly a week) for 15 years. We know what its about.
Actually, I don't need to pawn my X-box, and I will be out of town for most of the event. But people who pay their taxes and own their homes shouldn't have to deal with all of the shite that goes along with this sorry event. I don't have kids, but I can empathize with the people who live in Fayetteville and do have kids.
You can't even understand why people in Fayetteville hate the rally. Start a petition to have it moved to whatever backwater you call home and report back to me how much you like it after a few years.

I heard that its really not that bad. I have friends that enjoy it anyways. People should just stop sticking their noses in the air. WTF cares really, its one week. Big deal. I wish I had a bike.

With that being said. My point of view comes from an outsider who does not live there. I used to live there part time as a yound lad. but not anymore.

You're refusing to see the economic reality
Businesses in Fayetteville create jobs for local people all year, every year.
Majority of those business want BBBQ here.
They generate tax revenue for the city and county, all year.
They want BBBQ here.
They provide quality of life, all year.
They want BBBQ here.

I love how corn dog vendors from Iowa are "an economic talking point" here
Is this fricking amateur hour?

From what I can tell:
Numberwang doesn't like Okies as he's referenced them a number of times in his posts. Or maybe it is limited to those from Muskogee since he's mentioned them, too, keeping in mind that the population of that entire city is under 40K.
wmr doesn't like old people who wear leather and try to act like young people. (Insert obligatory photo here)
They won't purchase fine stationary from hogfly's wife's store downtown.
All the "cool kids" are run out of town so you can't enjoy their company and overall coolness.
Some don't like the way these people look, you know facial hair, long hair and that kind of thing. Some of them are different and that makes the natives feel uncomfortable, and they are frightened to emerge from their flower gardens.
The not in my back yard theme is heavy here.
The next thing you know more chaos will rain down on the city including people showing up in droves at a Fayetteville sporting event donning hog hats and screaming woo pig sooie.
I've been trying to find stories of women being rape and pillaged, babies being punched, and kids being drug up and down Dickson behind motorcycles but I haven't located them yet. Maybe someone will provide links.
It's 15 years and running with the blessing of the Fayetteville Chamber and several hundred thousand people in attendance in the later years with NWA major sponsors backing the event. So what is so wrong about the event that you dissenters see that the supporters don't see, and why is this event with all these unsavory characters allowed to continue? I mean after all from the perspective y'all are giving massive damage is being inflicted upon the city.
If the event is discontinued wouldn't the dissenters just find something else to bitch about? I'm confident that they would.

The funny part is for years Fayetteville wanted an A&P tax to promote tourism, and we got it in spades.
