i'm trying to cut bread and artificial sweeteners out of my diet. the artificial sweeteners are obvious, just have sweet-n-low in my coffee in the morning, substituting honey for it. but according to an article on yahoo no kind of bread is good, even organic.

going with just fruit, veggies, and nuts for the bulk of my diet. thinking of adding brown rice...

from the article:
quote:

The Problem: Modern wheat is nothing like the grain your mother or grandmother consumed. Today, wheat barely resembles its original form, thanks to extensive genetic manipulations of the 1960s and '70s to increase yields. "You cannot change the basic characteristics of a plant without changing its genetics, biochemistry, and its effects on humans who consume it," Dr. Davis notes. ??In his book, Dr. Davis makes the case that modern-day wheat is triggering all sorts of health problems, everything from digestive diseases like celiac and inflammatory bowel disease to acid reflux, obesity, asthma, and skin disorders. "If there is a food that yields extravagant, extraordinary, and unexpected benefits when avoided, it is bread," says Dr. Davis. "And I don't mean white bread; I mean all bread: white, whole wheat, whole grain, sprouted, organic, French, Italian, fresh, day-old...all of it."??

quote:

The Solution: Try eliminating bread from your diet for a few weeks to see if you note health improvements. When you do choose grains, look to things like quinoa, buckwheat, millet, and wild rice, but in smaller quantities (less than a half cup) because these can also trigger high blood sugar, Dr. Davis says.

lol eating bread doesn't trigger obesity. Eating too much triggers obesity.

edit: but I know that some people don't tolerate wheat very well. I'm not one of those people so I'll eat bread til I die

Is it possible to make bread out of non-wheat flour? Like out of oats or something?

Yep, because you can buy gluten free bread. No idea how it's made...rice flour, probably.

5'10''
175
23 years old

I go to the gym five times a week. Alternating push and pulls:

push days:
5 set of bench
- 2 sets of 7x 205
-2 sets of 10x 185
-1 set of 135 till failure
3 sets of 10x dumbbell bench
3 sets of 10x butterflies
4 sets of 8x shoulder presses with dumbbells
3 sets 12x of side lateral raises

Pull days:
5 sets of 10x curls, alternating hammer and regular.
5 sets of wide-grip pullups, some with dip belt
4 sets of 13x rows
4 sets of barbell rows
Run a couple miles

I also go to bikhram yoga every once in awhile. It's freaking exhausting, man. Keeps me reasonably flexible and my spine straight. I also climb every now and then to keep my forearms in tiptop.

Every night I do this ab workout. No breaks.
90 crunches with legs elevated
2x 30 of the same, but targeting external obliques on each side
30 bicycles
Spell the ABC's with your toes elevated, as if you're doing flutter kicks
30 seconds of flutter kicks
Elevate your legs, touch your toes 30x
30 second break
(This part I change every time for diversity's sake, so pick something, do thirty.)

I have a badass protein powder if you guys are curious. The name escapes me.

I fixed it. I had some lease language copied and accidentally inserted it. Didn't work too well.

It's this "medical food," whatever that means. It isn't just protein. All sorts of vitamins and such. It's called Ultraclear by Metagenics. It doesn't seem like the right thing to take if you're trying to get all swole, but I took it when I was in high school and it definitely made me alot stronger with the same routine. It's really awesome because it makes you healthy in general. Being a college kid, this is how I get all of the nourishment I miss out on.

I also take spirulina for absorption, and metagenics' Fibroplex Plus for muscle fatigue.

And not really fitness related but Focus XT and Blue Green Algae as nootropics.

I messed around with creatine, but didn't like that you lose everything you gain once you stop taking it.

I stay away from the vast majority of supplements, I don't need to gain any mass and caffeine and other stimulants make me jittery.

My work out today was fantastic!

he had me do walking lunges so far then do 25 squats and then lunge back and do 25 more-5 times. my legs were jello. lol

He made me quit though for the first time. I was running in place until he says drop, then I went into burpees, run in place, drop and do mountain climbers, repeat until he is done. I fricking fell to the mat.
