It's more about awareness and knowing angles when you get really good.

I would say rb is the most dependant on athletic ability with cb being 2nd or 3rd.

I miss the days of having an Atwater, Hamlin, or Kennedy at safety. I am afraid the days of having the hard hitting safety are over. If you have that kind of reputation now you will most likely be ejected for targeting.

Santos Ramirez is nothing if not a hard hitter.

That's curious. To me, anyway. Wonder if offer is to play QB or if they are projecting him.

This could be it's own thread. I would put LB in there but could argue DE.

And now it is because I want to hear the nuances. Running backs either run or block every play sometimes they are asked to catch but not expected to

Anyone know if y'all are looking at any prospects from Longview or Marshall this year?

We've offered Derrick Tucker and Alfred Bryant at Manvel but they're both committed elsewhere as I'm sure you know. I've read that we may make a run at trying to flip Bryant but who knows. I highly doubt we're going to flip an instate kid from A&M either. That would be a waste of time in my opinion.

Has anyone ever figured out who the recruit committed to another SEC school was that contacted Bert after watching Bert's show?

Bet the offer is for a different position other than QB

I just saw where Duwop's little brother, Ahmir Mitchell, is already transferring from Michigan. He was an early enrollee this spring and didn't even make it to his first season there. He was a 4* and #9 overall athlete in this past class.

It's just crazy that with everything Duwop has been through here he hasn't transferred but his more highly recruited little brother doesn't even make it a year at Michigan.

LOL not a chance in the world

Bielema wouldn't even pursue in recruiting and we have his brother on the team because he knows the situation and background character... He was in the doghouse the entire 8 months at Michigan

Mitchell got in serious trouble over the summer that warranted what was probably going to be a year-long suspension. He was also apparently in the habit of posting images of him partying at various late-night hours on Snapchat. By all reports he was not a good fit for the program.

Hardheadedness runs in the family I guess.

Duwop will probably be one of the more talented athletes to stay four years and never make much of an impact here.

Hope he proves me wrong this season, but on a team whose thinnest position is safety, we've got a guy that almost every coach thought had the makings of a great college safety coming out of H.S., and he chooses instead to be a safety valve at QB, WR, and this year RB who will rarely see the field except in the case of injury, or some special pass play or reverse drawn up for him.

He's more likely to throw for a TD than run for one.

Sorry, just a little frustration that's brewed for a couple years.

Don't want his brother.

I didn't know about Ahmir's suspension, partying and weed tests.

I too share your frustrations w/ Duwop's refusal to play safety where he could be the elite athletic player we need back there.

I'm sure he's frustrated too but his position hopping isn't helping his cause to crack the 2deep at any spot.

I'm guessing he doesn't like tackling and being physical.

To be fair, he was only asked to move to safety once. After that they knew he would stay on offense. Much smaller learning curve going from position to position on offense. Skills transfer over. Learning to play safety as a junior in college would be like learning an alien language and hoping to be fluent in 6 months.
