Interesting tidbit that both Tom Murphy and Clay Henry retell from Booger McFarland's appearance at the NWA TD club this week.
Apparently Marvin Caston, the former FB/DE/LB, and now a bigwig for the Hogs grew up best friends with McFarland. His recruitment was down to Tennessee, LSU and Arkansas.
Fulmer wanted him to be a C instead of on the DL and used Peyton Manning sliding his hands under his backside as a recruiting pitch.
Danny Ford screwed the pooch. McFarland says the first thing Ford did when he went for the home visit was to prop his cowboy boots up onto his mom's coffee table. He said his mom shot him a look, and that was then he knew he wasn't going to Arkansas.
LSU's coach Gerry DiNardo didn't do much to recruit him, but he didn't do anything to offend him or his mom and that's where he went.

Ford was bad about doing that, it isn't he first recruit who has told that story. Several also reported he had left his spit cup on the coffee table as well.

Currently the #1 player in Texas for his class. You'll notice we haven't offered yet. According to the pay for click guys, we have a plan in place with his family to do something special to deliver his Arkansas offer. They make it seem like we're in a good place with him. Especially if RW3 does big things like we expect.

Watched Billy Ferrell, DT, 2018 (Fordyce, 6-4, 295 on roster) last night. Keep an eye on him, definitely has D1 potential on defense. Moves well for size.

Even with that uncouthness, he still managed to recruit well enough for HDN to reap the benefits. Ford got our roster at least physically up to being able to compete in the SEC. We owe him at least a 'thanks' for that.
