That's great. We're gonna need more than one bat, though. Our offense is putrid.

Serrano, Benintendi, Bonfield, Gosser, Spoon, Eagen is a pretty solid core.

Those guys will hit, most did this year (Gosser, Serrano, Benintendi, Eagen). I expect Spoon to have a big bounce back year, he's too good.

We need production from 3B, SS, and 1B. Wernes, Bernal, Baxendale, etc.

For comparison, PG had Stanek #20 out of HS, Keaton is 37.

McKinney, Bonfield, Rodriguez (could start at C), Grieshaber, Wiggins, Patten

STAAAACKED

DVH is going to have the competition he wants for offense next year:
C: Rodriguez, Gosser, Shaddy, Pennell (JUCO), Clark
1B: Baxendale, Gassaway (JUCO), Hentges, Spanberger
2B: Nomura (JUCO), Hogan (JUCO)
3B: Wiggins, Wernes
SS: McAfee, Bernal, Campbell (JUCO), Jones
OF: Benintendi, Bonfield, Spoon, Serrano, Eagan, Benninghoff, Todarello
DH: Baxendale, McKinney, Hentges, Wilkerson

not sure where to put Matt Brown (C, 1B, 3B, DH), Keith Grieshaber (2nd or SS)

RHP: Killian, Jackson, McKinney, Teague, Taccolini, Stone, Simpson, Chadwick (JUCO),
Patten, Lowery, Phillips, Hammel, Sanburn, Vassar, Weiler, Kelley, Phillips, Smith

LHP: Poche, Hentges (only draftee so far), Fant, Pate, Hill (JUCO), Falwell, Kerns, Barr

Would be a luxury to have Wernes and Bernal as utility players. Also maybe Spoon could play 2nd or Serrano.
Actually Joe would fit in better with his weak arm but not sure how he would handle fielding/double plays.

Many ways the lineup could go. I'm sure we will see transfers because the numbers.

Yeah, we have a shot at a REALLY REALLY good team next year.

I'd put Serrano at 2B myself, with the indoor facility about to open up here any week now, he can take infield practice year round all offseason and get that position down, if Anderson can do it so can Serrano.

Bonfield-Benintendi-Spoon OF = nasty potential there.

Gosser should have the C spot locked up with an improved defense over the offseason, which again, will work on his defense all offseason with the practice facility and summer ball. He showed us a LOT with the bat in limited time, and I don't think it was a fluke at all.

Somebody just has to step up at 1B, SS, 3B. McAfee showed a lot of potential last year, his bat really came around and he's great defensively so I think he'll take back SS as long as he's healthy.

3B is probably a lost cause, we're just not going to get much production at the plate from that spot next season, but there's always going to be a couple of weak spots in the lineup so that's okay, hopefully they can just be average hitters and no awful like this season, anything but awful would be acceptable, just a slight improvement and I'll take it.

1B is really a position you shouldn't be weak at when it comes to hitting, and I think we'll be weak yet again next season. I have little faith in Baxendale at this point, Hentges is signing, and who knows about the new guys there.

But, I do think we'll have our best lineup since the new bats. May not be a saying a whole lot, but we're going to have a pretty solid lineup IMO, with a TON of potential, and depth. Finally.

Pitching should again be of little worry to us, I look for DVH to do what he did with Stanek, and start Killian on Friday nights, McKinney on Saturdays, with Taco on Sundays. Could go with Zach Jackson in there if Taco struggles, I really like his stuff and what he showed late this year as well, nasty nasty slider.

Beeks I feel is likely to come back, but we'll see, and see just how healthy he really is. But if he does? Good lord. This team.

Beeks-Killian-McKinney? :splooge:

Gunn, Stone, Jackson, Taco, Poche, etc in the bullpen and midweek?

This team could have the total package, could.

If you watch DVH's last presser he's REALLY REALLY high on Nathan Rodriguez (C) from Southern California we beat Fullerton and Arizona on.

He was asked if Gosser had the starting job going into fall ball.. and Dave said no it will be wide open and talked about having Rodriguez committed for 2 plus years.

starts about 8:05 - LINK

3B will be a combo of Wiggins (big power - only homer at Area Code Games) or Brown with Wernes backing up.

1B Maybe this is a spot Eagan or Serrano could play if Baxendale isn't there or Hentges. McKinney could also play 1st.

I don't see Beeks coming back because 100k or there about is better than 10-20k as a senior.

Depth is the major thing we haven't had in years. Pitching will be inexperienced and good but the young ones will just have to follow Killian's lead and listen to Jorn.

A top 10 class that isn't getting raided by the MLB.

Finally.

Getting two top 50 national players to campus is a huge. Vitello

This is really setting up nicely for next years squad. Their are some legit prospects making it to campus and we will keep a core of our better players.

It's good because those rounds get chump change, and girls in college are much better quality than A ball hangarounds.

IMO (not that it means much)

Fri. starter- Killian
Sat. starter- Jackson
Sun. starter- McKinney
First two out of the bullpen- Tacollini, Teague
Closer- Stone
Midweek- Poche, Patten

Lineup: (no particular order)

C- Gosser or Rodriguez
DH- Eagan
1B- Baxendale or McKinney
2B- Serrano (could be interesting...)
SS- McAfee
3B- Wiggins
LF- Bonfield
CF- Benintendi
RF- Spoon

Assuming Hentges signs. Probably forgot some, but i think that would be a really good team
