War Memorial has been a death pit for a while. Every time we paly a game there we die a little inside as a fanbase. You enjoy your stew, your stew of Razorback aspirations that have been brutally murdered by "tradition".

We had 68k for Louisiana

Last year LR failed to sell out ULM. We had a helluva lot higher expectations going into that one too

End of story

Louisiana was at least supposed to be a 'contest'.
Yet, still there were 5,000-6,000 empty seats.

Samford is more like a 'scrimmage'. You can polish a turd as much as you'd like, it's still not going to sell very well. In LR or Fayetteville.

(No real offense to Samford, I'm sure they are a fine institution, and within their own level of competition, a pretty fair team.)

Little Rock only wants big games.

They think we should play our biggest games in our smallest stadium.

Oh to have that sense of entitlement...

Spoke to John White today. He basically said that he has always thought games should be on campus for the students' sake. He said he saw too many students get hurt or killed traveling to Little Rock just to go see a football game that could have just been in Fayetteville.

It doesn't make sense that we still have fans that hold onto playing in that crap stadium. I think the "binding the whole state together" argument is pretty outdated too. U of A is getting students from all over the state and the world. Those south Arkansas hog fans can follow the team just as well as anyone else and even drive up to the Hill if they have the money.

No, Little Rock doesn't only want 'big games', unless you call anything that would be beyond a scrimmage a 'big' game.

Hell, Fayetteville obviously didn't want Samford either.

ANY students getting killed is 'too many', but I can't remember ever reading about a student that was killed driving to a Little Rock game. May have happened, but just as many probably die drinking too much at a frat party, falling off a balcony, falling off a cliff, driving to Oklahoma etc...

Thanks to the lottery we have more students from all corners of the state than ever before. This argument is outdated as those kids are now on campus and will leave as traditional graduates do for all areas of the country.

Diversity on the campus is up 80% since 2008.

Yet, LR can't sell out the small stadium because "who the opponent" is.

LR deserves Samford type teams, they should show how grateful they are by selling out the stadium, yet can't do it for games without LSU fans picking up the loose tickets for them.

71,062 showed up to watch Jacksonville St. in 2011
70,607 for Missouri St. in 2010.
69,596 for Tenn Tech in 2009.
70,537 for western Illinois in 2007

Yet LR acts like they are being asked for the world when it comes to selling 53,000 tickets... because its against a FCS opponent.

What's the excuse for not selling out DWRRS for ULL?

THE PROGRAM deserves better than scheduling Samford.
THE FANS STATEWIDE deserve better than scheduling Samford. At the ticket prices, fans deserve to see more than a 'scrimmage'.

Attendance at War Memorial - Capacity: 54,120

ULM (08) 55,048
LSU (08) 55,325
MO State (09) 55,572
MSU (09) 55,634
ULM (10) 55,705
LSU (10) 55,808
NM (11) 52,606
MSU (11) 55,761
ULM (12) 53,089
OM (12) 55,378

It's coming. The SEC Network/Playoff will force a 9 game conference schedule and fans will get their money's worth.

You go to see the Hogs play if you're a real Hogs fan. The opponent doesn't matter. It's sad to see that you just don't get it.

I fully believe Long plans to end WMS come 2016, if not completely eliminate games there, then 1 mid level OOC game and that will be it.

It will probably coincide with the north endzone expansion, as well.

2016 can't get here soon enough.

What does that have to do with WMS not being able to sell 53k tickets to central Ark "fans"?

69,801 of 72k showed up to watch a sunbelt team @ DWR-RS. That is 97% of a much larger stadium full.

Last year 53,089 of 53,955, that is barely 98% of a much smaller stadium hosting a game for the "fans who can't make it to DWR-RS".

But I guess the opponent was big time enough for Central Arkansas.

You guys just don't understand!!
Little Rock can't possibly fill such a large, modern stadium located on a pristine golf course with it's small population.

Central Arkansas just got e-leck-tricitay and running water (at least Jed anyway). Now you expect them to quit farming and go to a foosball game? Their allegiances lie with the yooler trojans after all.

The expectations you hill people put on the capital city is OUTRAGEOUS!!

This really is a huge problem for WMS going forward.

DWR-RS is basically sold out due to the season ticket packages sold, not completely but close then you have return tickets from the opponents side. Actual attendance isn't a big deal, the school gets their money for the budget no matter if only 65k show up to watch the game.

WMS having 10k unsold tickets is a huge deal...

Did I ever say I wasn't going? We'll have all 8 of our seats filled: Myself, my brother, my two sons and one's wife, plus 3 friends from Memphis.

Are you going?

I didn't mean YOU personally. I meant in general the excuse you gave for not wanting to attend a "scrimmage" is used by PEOPLE who aren't really fans in the first place. And yes, I am traveling from Fay to Little Rock, to see the Hogs play in Waste Management Stadium.
