Do you think students are targets or just random string? I know these shooting isn't involved with UA, but just in general.

Well, that part's just not true, and anytime it involves a student, I get emailed about it so they can nip rumors in the bud.

Most all of the violent crime is confined to the west side, but that's not exclusive. As student apartment capacity exceeds the student population, you will see the problem spread to what were formerly student apartments, similar to what happened in Auburn.

You can sum up all the shootings to the West side of town and the groups of mid to lower rent apartments sprinkled throughout town. Throw some in from Alberta (although the tornado has greatly reduced that area as crime ridden) and you pretty much got it all.
