Those cops should lose their fricking jobs. No reason to use excessive force against some college kids.

Of course the whole fricking situation could have been avoided if he just went out side politely and shut the fricking door. More times than not, the cop won't be a dick and will just tell you to not do whatever you were doing and life will go on. Whole situation is pretty fricked up though. I imagine the parents will be pretty damm vocal.

because they were assuming the guy was going to be a dick (looks like he is a giant one) and try to then arrest them on being drunk in "public."

Which the TPD do all the time.

My buddy was on the patio of Moe's BBQ(which is essentially the sidewalk) drinking a beer, talking on the phone a couple of years ago. He was kind of pacing like people do when they are in a phone convo, and he wandered right past the boundary ropes of the patio.

This cop that was passing told him that he could not be past the ropes, and so my buddy apologized and told the cop that he'd go back on the other side.

Well the cop wasn't having that, and decided to get my buddy's info for an open container violation. My buddy complied, but when the cop asked him where he worked, he asked why that was pertinent info, and refused to tell him.

So the cop handcuffed him and took him to jail for a "public intox." This guy is one of the kindest, polite guys I know. This is how they operate.

The cop yelling shut the frick up needs to be slapped with a big black dildo.

Jesus that's ridiculous. I am usually a big defender of the police. But that officer had no business putting his hands on anyone in that apartment. He seemed very angry. Very similar to the police officers I encountered last week.

1. The cops are the ones who create the entire violent confrontation.

2. Why are there like 12 cops responding to a noise complaint?

No "has gotten" to it. They've been that way since at the least the mid-90's.

From the university...

Dear Fellow Parents:

I’m sure many of you have heard about an incident that occurred Sunday in which three of our students were arrested by the Tuscaloosa Police Department. Videos circulating on social media are quite disturbing.

The University released a statement yesterday morning, and I want to share it with you.

We are aware of the incident, and we remain very concerned about the welfare of all of our students who were there, especially those who were arrested. We have reached out to provide support to them, and we will continue to provide services they need. We can confirm that three UAPD officers responded to a TPD officer’s call for emergency assistance that morning, and we are reviewing their actions to verify they acted appropriately. We encourage other students who have been impacted by this matter to contact the university’s Counseling Center at 205-348-3863.

Yesterday afternoon the Tuscaloosa Police Department placed three of its officers on administrative leave, pending completion of their investigation. Their news conference can be viewed here - LINK .

We thank you for entrusting your students to us, and we want you to know we take the well-being of all our students very seriously. As the parent of two University of Alabama students myself, I can assure you the University is working with the City of Tuscaloosa to ensure this type of occurrence does not happen again. We remain committed to providing UA students with an environment where they are safe, and where they feel secure and encouraged to flourish as they continue their education.

Lawsuit coming. Tuscaloosa taxpayers will foot the bill. Cops should be fired. The wordy offender should do jail time...even if only 7 days.

Makes me think twice about spending any money inside the Tuscaloosa city limits on my way to Starkville. I understand that as the chief said, the investigation takes time. It may be easy to make fun of Mizzou for letting their campus get commandeered by a bunch of whack jobs. Is Tuscaloosa PD really that notorious? Then how about a student movement to stop spending money in Tuscaloosa? Eat on campus. Drive over to Northport to shop. Buy gas there too. With the right student leadership...if the TPD us really that bad...you could make the city hurt.

Have there been other incidents with TPD? This one definitely does not look good for them. I would think that these types of things (parties/noise/underage alcohol consumption)are common in a college town this size and police officers' self control is tested to the max. No way that I would want their jobs but this certainly looks out of line.

i lived there while working and I was fortune that we did not have loud parties on my apartment complex but unlike them I had to go to work. So it would have been a problem for me if my next door neighbor was partying all night with loud music etc. So it is a no win situation

I think that students who locate in non-student housing do so to get away from the party crowd.

Hey man, more importantly what are we going to do with this coaching staff and team? They better straighten up and get the mistakes taken care of.

my first apartment was predominantly a student one. But it was far away from campus thought. It was the Fountaine Blue apartments. The name changed and it was destroyed partially in the tornado and it has been completely torn down.

my second apartment was a town house that was not students

Fire em all. NS has lost control of mizz

You don't live directly behind the strip if you want to get away from the party crowd

Greeks determined the outcome of a Tuscaloosa school board election. They have the built in network to affect change if this a systemic problem.

Don't open the door to the cops without a warrant, ever. Leave the chain on the door and they can say what they want from outside. If they kick in the door they are in big trouble especially if it is on video. If the music continued the power to that apartment is easily cut off from outside.

not sure all of this is good advice. It is best if cops are your friends.
