Thoughts?

It is another instance where it appears that the police are using force when there is no visible threat so they come across as bullies and/or gangsters. I just feel like we see too many of these types of incidents. "Go upstairs NOW or you will be arrested too!" What the heck is that all about?

I didn't particularly care for the #FratLivesMatter shtick at the end. I mean did the people that were forcibly taken into custody die or anything?

Its over use of force. Its another example of how cops get away with too much. I would have to know more about how the cop gained entry and some of the legality issues there to give an opinion on the renters initial complaint in the video.

On the other hand, despite the cop being a giant a-hole and a bad cop, the kid put himself in a position to get beat down by resisting arrest and not following the cops order after the cop told him like 10x to come outside.

No I'm sure the ending was some kid trying to be cute and funny. I thought the kids handled themselves very poorly and the Cops did as well. You can't just go shutting the door on a cop in your doorway. Most kids now a days seem to think they know the legal system and their constitutional rights more than they do. There are so many videos out there now, that kids just think they have to ask if they are being detained and that will mean the cops have to let them go. Both parties here acted stupidly. Entire situation could have been avoided if either side just calmed down.

Comply, don't attempt to shut the door on the Po Po when he has his hand on a guy and you will not be on the ground getting arrested. Pretty simple.

Couldn't they have just turned the music down?

The story is that the people arrested weren't even the ones who were being noisy. Cops went to the wrong apartment.

The cops in the video deserve to be thrown in jail.

Everyone of those cops should be fired. If you are defending that type of police action, you are basically saying that you are OK with living in a society where police can enter and drag you out of your home without a warrant. Maybe UA has an online constitution 101 class you can take

Some people prefer not to be kidnapped and thrown in a cage, especially when it's unclear that anything occurred to provoke that level of aggression.

A criminal procedure class would be more productive.

I would love to know all the facts, but what sticks out the most to me is the number of officers for a noise complaint.

Can you legally be arrested in your doorway? Yes. Does the case law that justifies such an arrest involve noise complaints? No.

Going to be interesting moving forward.

Cops should be fired for acting the way they did, no doubt. The kids were freaking morons too and they are at least at some level of fault for non-compliance.

It's the same thing some people get mad about when people are talking about situations where a black guy is pulled over and eventually beaten/killed. Step 1: Don't participate in illegal activity. Step 2: If you are participating in an illegal activity or are even accused of doing so, comply with officers, capture any abuse on video if you can, and then take legal action later.

Nothing excuses the brutality that took place outside the apartment. Yanking him out and cuffing him would have been a lesser problem, but the beating/tasing was ridiculous. The officer's dealings at the beggining were also handled hooribly.

The number of officers there also stands out to me. It really makes me think there may well have been more going on that a simple noise complaint. At the very least I suspect there's some sort of history with the location.

Does the TPD use body cameras? All the posted videos show the incident just before it went all WWE. Context leading up to that would also add a lot of clarity.

Chief of TPD says the videos are disturbing. Officers involved are put on administrative leave.

Kid who got tazed and beaten is one of my good friends little brother.

First off everyone there was of age, so the line I have seen a few times about them not wanting to get in trouble for underage drinking doesn't work.

Apparently from what he told me the cop just let himself in and the guys realizing you can't fricking do that told him to leave. They were refusing to go outside because they were assuming the guy was going to be a dick (looks like he is a giant one) and try to then arrest them on being drunk in "public." The cop refused to leave and forcibly tried to drag him outside for no good reason at all.

I'm normally someone that really tries to defend cops, but frick these guys. I'll just add it to the pile of videos I have seen over the years of cops really hating people actually knowing the law and their rights. It is disgusting.

Outside of the obvious guys that were busy getting a hard on from beating up some defenseless college students, the guy who came in the apartment and yelled the shut the frick up at the kids inside seems like a real class act. Hell of a public servant if you ask me.

Apparently the kid has been asked to go on Good Morning America and I hope to see him on every possible news outlet there is. These dumbass, meathead cops are giving the good ones such a bad name.

The hate in the Police officer's voice when he goes in the apartment is not someone that needs to be a position of power.

Nah these cops are finished because they've pissed off a lot of the wrong people and that's even before lawyers get involved.

Outside of a shooting, usually means you are toast. Unpaid would be a punishment you come back from.

If he tried to enter without an exigent circumstance he screwed up.

Having said that, this is where y'all will think I'm defending the cops. I'm not, I am pointing out concerns and solutions if my concerns are correct.

I assume for this agency, they get a ton of calls involving noise and general disturbances. How much training do they receive. Specifically in a multi dwelling environment like this one. Training on legal issues, tactics, crowd control etc?

How long had these officers been on duty? Game day scenario this could be an issue. Hell outside agencies were called in for this and other big games.

These are administrative concerns with the agency. If you want positive change the people at the to have to address issues like the above and others as they arise (preferably before they arise).

These are the type of questions that get me in trouble at work, so what do I know.
