Alex Leatherwood at right tackle

Would like to see him there on 1st group in the scrimmage just to see how he works with that unit. If it's all about getting the best 5 on the field, I'd need to be convinced that he's not one of the best 5 (may not have top 5 playbook and assignment knowledge, but he's top 5 in terms of skill)

You'd think they'd at least give Leatherwood some reps with the 1's. I guess he needs to prove it with the 2's first....if he can't impress there, he won't impress against our number 1 D either.

Calvin Ridley, Robert Foster, and Jerry Jeudy are a pretty sick WR combo. And now we have an experienced and improved QB?

Official Fall Practice Thread - Day 5 Video and Practice Report on Page 5 by Commander Data Boz, have you any idea if Alex Leatherwood may win out at RT?

Cotton and Womack on the right side. Leatherwood may get a small chance to jump

We still had several chances to put the game away. Mental errors, more than anything, cost us that game.

I'm still depressed about how our special teams were so inept that we elected to go for the first down on the 13 yard line up 7 with 5 minutes to go.

From my understanding he is being trained as the legit backup. No ploys straight next guy up.

Probably been discussed, but somebody talk to me about our field goal kicking situation.

We don't have one, we are just going for every 4th down.

Pretty stoked about Robert Foster this year. Saw a quote from him the other day about why he didn't transfer and how he didn't want to he known as a quitter, which is why he came back. He's got a ton of potential. Hopefully it all comes to fruition.

saw that too. shows he's matured a ton in past 2 years. said he wants to be a leader to his position group, the O, and the team. love seeing that and hope big things for him this year and beyond at whatever is next for him.

Any word on Ben Davis?

quote:

Highly ranked players redshirting these days seems quite rare, but it happens, and often times it’s the right thing to do. At the end of last season, we named our top 10 redshirt freshmen, and many of them benefited from a year of development.

Here are 10 standouts who could play key roles in their redshirt freshmen years.

LB Ben Davis

The skinny: Growing up minutes from Tuscaloosa and with his father having played for Alabama, most assumed that the Crimson Tide were the clear favorite. And while he did commit to Alabama on Signing Day, Auburn made a significant push, Georgia became a real threat, and he also took official visits to LSU and Notre Dame. Five-stars redshirting at Alabama is nothing new, but now it will be Davis’ time to show everyone the skill set and athleticism that he showcased at the high school level.

Farrell’s take: Alabama is so deep at linebacker that Davis might not even crack the two deep and might have to earn his way on special teams and slide into playing time due to injury or others underperforming. But he has the size, range and talent to make a big impact regardless, especially if Alabama has some injury issues. He’s not at the top of the list for impact redshirt freshmen in the country because of the depth, but he was one of the most talented defenders to sit out last season.

I can't believe the NCAA did away with 2-a-days. They are miserable but you learn a lot

I love this. He is using a more pro style approach. Every yr we hear how beat up the team is by the end of the year, and I think CNS has adjusted.

Cochran has them in shape, so I am not worried about the conditioning.

Just worried about the teams mental toughness.

Usually Saban has them practice 10-11 days in a row to start fall camp. Saban used to say he likes to see how the team does when they are tired, to test their mental toughness.
