Michigan obviously did a good job realizing we would have trouble covering the RB out of the backfield.
The 4th and 2 conversion and the tying TD to end the 4th qtr were both on simple passes to the RB out of the backfield and both times completely uncovered. Looked like it was designed that way with it being JJ's first read both times. I could be mistaken, though.
It stings that you get beat on those types of gimme plays after playing great defense overall for the most part. It just shouldn't happen.
They used some TEs in a sort of bunch formation and then ran routes out of it oppositie side of where the back was going. If I had to guess it was Campbell or Lawson who blew their assignments. Straight up confusion.

On Michigan’s first touchdown drive, the entire back seven was confused when Corum caught the pass and just strolled into the end zone.

You're all correct, my original point was simply that I can remember at least 4-5 specific times throughout the season where Marshall totally blew coverage that led to an explosive play. In the Rose Bowl, all the MLBs played terribly.
The have been racking my brain to understand why our defense looked so confused, and there is only one theory that I can come up with that makes sense: maybe the coaches over-prepped the defense for very specific offensive looks, and when UM mixed it up, it was nothing like what they had been preparing for...? Regardless, the adjustment on both offense and defense should not have happened at halftime (or in some cases not at all). The adjustment should have happened after the first 2 drives (2nd quarter at the latest).

Correct. I’m stunned that it took until the second half to get Haynes into the game. He looked great. Saban is certainly a great coach but he isn’t always perfect.

NIL and the transfer portal is what has added to attitudes of entitlement and shopping around for more money.

After seeing these plays again, I think Moore was supposed to pick up Corrum slipping out of the backfield on 4th and 2.
On the tying touchdown, their WR#1 went against the flow of the play beneath the LoS. Not sure if Jihaad or the safety was supposed to pick that up. This was actually a solid play call on their part.

Some rumblings that Alabama is interested in Cortez Hankton for WRs coach.

I don't know if we could pull him from LSU... but that would be an incredible hire. Yes please
Posted on 1/5/24 at 2:18 pm to CapstoneGrad06
I would definitely take that.

I feel like we need to get this hire locked down before Ryan Williams commitment date on Feb 9th. Gotta give him a chance to talk to his new position coach

I noticed that^ - the td to the rb was a pretty clever play design, it was more or less a pick play on our backers that really confused them. They ran about three guys right up to our lbs and stopped almost creating a wall, then had the rb sprint toward the left side on a slant. I’ve never seen that.

The youth here is scary if there’s not injury luck again. Never seen this kind of youth on an OL depth chart at Alabama.

Also seeing Washington WR Coach/Passing Game Coordinator, Jamarcus Shepard's name getting thrown around. That'd be a great hire as well.

BOL has mentioned that taking 2 OL transfers is a possibility. Guys with multiple years of eligibility left. Opportunities to compete for two open positions at C and RT.
