If people were true traditionalist they would want leather helmets. I say white helmets, white jerseys, red pants, and red shoes. That should do it.

Oh man. That’s a great idea. How about all white and crimson shoes. Kind of like the pope.

DeBoer doesn't need to screw with any of that stuff.

Sigh.

Those things are some bad juju.

I still remember a Shula (the QB, not Coach) team played in those one game in the 80s.

It was horrible.

So, would you call this guy inbred?
“I'm such a traditionalist,” Saban said last year. “Everybody has an idea or what Alabama football players are supposed to look like when they come out of the tunnel. In terms of the uniform that they wore, and the uniform that we wear. And that's not a tradition that I think anybody has a right to mess with.” LINK

Well, I can't comment on the white helmets, but my sauce is telling me we might have a shakeup in the live mascot department...

How can you be an Alabama fan and say this? I’ve never heard anybody say their uniforms look bad especially a fan.

Because I can be objective.

Our fans wear crimson colored glasses. It makes us passionate, but it also makes us an echo chamber, incapable of being critical of pretty much anything other than coaches or players that fail to perform, or anything that suddenly isn't the way it always was.

You could put the goddamn logo on them, instead of numbers in a font that is literally from the 1930's. They are fricking ugly.

My favorite part is the simplicity of them. I am also happy we do not put all those stickers on the helmet like so many schools do. You have a role when out there and no need to be rewarded every fricking time you do what you are supposed to.

This is probably right and my explanation of why.

Looking at this from orbit, if Deboer has an average to below average season any little thing he may be involved in will become the worst thing ever, to include uniform changes.

If they do decide to do something like that it needs to come from higher. Not him.

Saban always said when asked about this, it’s not my decision and rightfully so. Who wants to be the guy to screw with Bama traditions and potentially be on the bad side of some mass hysteria. I remember in 08 or 09 we did that tiny houndstooth color on the jersey and people freaking lost it. You couldn’t even see it. I have one of the jerseys.

Are you talking about the one with the houndstooth strip on the collar, or that Nike uniform with the ghost houndstooth numbers and helmet stripe?

Wasn’t the one with the collar supposed to be an anniversary for Bryant? Anyway, on TV the slight collar trim and that circle A logo made it look like the players were wearing a pendant.

I don’t understand why people would get upset honoring Bear Bryant.

Personally, I’d like to see a small Alabama state flag on the back of the red helmets.

Maybe we could put “Red” Tide on the back of the helmet since everyone seems to think that’s what color the helmets are. We could start saying roll red tide.

I liked the crimson jerseys with white helmets from the 80s. That's what we had pre 70s I believe.
