I haven't bought any since these two:

He really missed an opportunity. "The Camback" (2010 Iron Bowl).

I really don't care that he does other schools. He's a business man. But a businessman with an unethical interpretation of collegiate licensing IMO.

Having said that--I wish I had picked up on the "Tradition" one. "The Sack" was before my time really but it is among my favorite.

I have the Stallings/92 print on my wall and one of his earliest paintings (some convenience store in Tuscaloosa) which is crimson and white and cool.

Moore made an issue of it

No, he didn't.

quote:

In 2002, UA told him he needed permission to paint the team's trademarked uniforms.

Moore disagreed, stating his First Amendment rights to portray historical events. The university sued him and his company in 2005 for breach of contract, trademark infringement, and unfair competition.

Alabama made an issue of it, and then tried to sue him after he disagreed.

If you peddle it on a print, coffee mug, shirt, calendar--it's all the same.

Okay, you say this, but it is not all the same.

Why are people so willing to make a distinction between a 200 dollar print (with 20k copies produced) and, say, a Hover Helmet?

Because there is a distinction. Its a clear interpretation of the first amendment.

So, he's acting as a member of the press when he paints these and makes 20k prints and sells them for 200 each?

Seriously?

Ok. Whatever you say.

If it's a speech issue--exactly what is it he's trying to say?

Besides, it's overpriced

I don't disagree.

And its a whole other issue if he decides to over-saturate his own market, or if he chooses to spite the University by doing AU paintings because they sued him. If you dislike him because of these reasons, I see nothing wrong with that. He has the right to do those things, however.

Freedom of the press doesn't only apply to the press, as in journalism, and news media. It covers artists too.

So what's he reporting?

That Alabama beat Georgia? That it was raining?

I'm not going to argue that he's within the law. He won. I get it.

But in as much as he has the freedom to do it, you have the freedom to buy it, I also have the freedom to dispute it and call it as I see it.

And I see it as a guy who made a good living peddling quality Alabama stuff, and rat finked his way out of it when it came time to give back.

"Meh"? Really? Short memories in here. Going into that game we were done. In the tank. Had just lost to Ole Miss, beat up on the hapless Warhawks. Georgia was healthy and looked tough coming into the game. Losing Chubb reminded me of Drake's injury in 2014, just emptied their sails. If anything, that was the game when the team awoke and began the march.

Ok, yeah, Georgia did kinda stink up the season, but it was a fun game.

The game was awesome a huge turning point to the season. Still don't think I'd want to buy a painting of it.

Just to add in my two cent, during my public relations track at UA, I had a journalism professor discuss the Daniel Moore issue and he sided with Moore and said that the University was in the wrong and needed to let go of the legal battle.
I do agree that he has made a few too many paintings recently. I have the smaller version of the 36-0 blowout Iron Bowl and I also have the legit sized Mount Cody block with my ticket worked in to the framing greeting my guest here in Knoxville when they enter my house
I love his work but think he should stick to bigger moments. There are still several I would like to own from when I was a band member but I'm honestly running out of wall space atm. Hopefully I can have my own man cave some day.

What does that have to do with this tracing of a photo that doesn't really show anything?

As an aside, I really would like to own "The Interception". Was the last football game I got to go to with my Dad.
Our last Hoops game was the UF game where we won the SEC and Daniel Moore did a painting. I have that one.

But I'm way to cheap to buy it.

He usually puts in angles that aren't in photos, so if you can produce a photo of this I'd like to see it.
