It's amazing that the University has been able to almost double it's student population in less than ten years. I hope it stops soon. We're running out of space to put all these kids.....

I don't know the last time you went down, but there are TONS of new student housing places going up on 15th/McFarland. They may run out of school buildings to have classes soon if this keeps up though.

Pretty sure Bryce will be torn down/renovated, so that is more classroom space

I heard a rumor they wanted to cap it at 35k and raise admission standards after that. This was from a buddy who was in SGA so take it FWIW.

Although somewhat of a dump, I'm sad to see it go. I bought my first legal 6 pack there when I turned 19.

Ya, I was thinking its been a while since you could drink at 19. My dad says he could drink at 19, but then they changed the law when he was 20 to 21, so he had to wait another year again.

No, I work on campus. They are definitely raising admissions standards and attracting more out-of-state students which means more money. But the plan isn't to stop at 35k. We will be at 40k soon.

I went to Bama in '83. I stayed at Burke Hall and didn't have a car so the Corner Store was a spot I frequented quite often.

I lived in Byrd Hall (behind the president's mansion) and the Corner was within walking distance. Makes me sad to see it go.
