I'm not. I just don't like Dabo.

People are massively over stating Dabo's recruiting ability. Clemson is not remotely as deep as the heavy hitters and his average class is like 17. I know we are all Bama sunshine pumpers, but that isn't a ticket to top 5 classes automatically, it requires a deep recruiting coaching staff.

This. Dabo is from Alabama, played at Bama, and has shown that he can run a major college program successfully. He has demonstrated class and integrity, as well. Bama could do much, much worse than Dabo when the time comes.

I'm of two minds when it comes to Dabo.

On one hand, he is the top young coach in the country. His resume is extremely impressive and has ties to Alabama. Take his name off the resume and we are offering him the job the millisecond Saban decides to head off to Lake Burton.

On the other hand, I've tried really hard to like him but his off the field antics really grind my gears at times. Not sure if that is the kind of mentality that the head coach at UA should have.

Bunch of Dabo dick riders up in here just cause Swinney got Clemson to a title game.

How many coaches can say they got their team to a title game?

Clemson is one of two teams in the title game; who are these "heavy hitters" you speak of?

All the ones that outrecruit them. ND got to a title game a few years back also. How did that work out? Got to have much more depth to consistently compete.

Fortunately we'll have a few years to see if this Clemson team was a flash in the pan or if Dabo is consistently at this level. Their recruiting should take a step forward after this season.

Dabo has done a GREAT job of bringing in top coordinators, and that's been a big key to his success (Venables, Chad Morris).

I like him, and I'm of the mind that says we need someone different from Saban once he retires.

So, if Clemson beats Alabama it won't mean much because they haven't had higher rated recruiting classes than Alabama?

Just because ND didn't win it all in 2012 doesn't mean they didn't have a highly successful season. And 2012 ND has zero to do with 2015 Clemson.

Finally, I believe Dabo would recruit very well at Bama (probably better than he has been able to at Clemson).

I fully understand the importance of recruiting, but it is not the end-all-be-all of college football. If it were, Alabama would have brought home several more trophies these last few years.

I don't dislike Dabo per se. He has done a great job at Clemson and I am happy for him especially after hearing his personal story.

...its his style and his histrionics that are off putting to me....His "Praise Be To GAWWWWD" after winning a football game is just weird to me although a large part of the gump nation will eat it up..... He is just a very squirrley, odd guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve....but I guess it works and his players love him.

I think some of you guys over value Dabo playing at Bama. That's not near the top of the criteria to be the HC at Bama. Like I said, I think it's hard to transition from Saban's style to Dabo's style. Also, he relies too much on emotion, both from himself and his players.

Perkins, Dubose, Shula all had that criteria which was a selling point to Bama fans and how'd that work out?

It is the end all be all without question, but what I think you are trying to say, which I agree with, is it isn't the whole puzzle but one piece.

Alabama has been the most successful program of the last 10 years, and it hasn't even been close. Those #1 classes are what allowed it. Without them, it categorically would not be the case.

Also known as "Les Miles-ing".

I actually think this is an unfair criticism of Dabo, he is a lot more technically prepared that people realize.

I don't like his style. That Rah Rah bullshite is why the term "clemsoning" exists. I'd much prefer someone with more of a Saban business/process mindset.
