Yeah and you guys come out with your pitch forks anytime someone points out the other's bias.

Works both ways.

The reality is each one of you supported Bateman or BB as being the guy, yet want to get mad when someone who supports Hurts being the guy, points out hypocrisy.

Why are you? If you truly didn't care why are you so agitated Hurts supporters think he is the best option? Never seem to get mad when it's BB getting the love.

I certainly didn't sort out anyone as the guy.

In fact, I've been pretty vocal about my dislike of all things Barnett since we took his commitment.

However, after he settled down he looked pretty good on Saturday night.

Hurts? Same thing. His first three drives were pretty bad. After he settled down he looked elite.

What's wrong with pointing that out?

I like Hurts the best. I always got blasted because I would get agitated when people would slam Bateman or Barnett. I never hoped for Bateman to be the starter just not going to throw a current player under the bus because I like another better.

I'm agitated at you. You are the one making this into a big deal.

I could give one rat's frick who the QB is as long as we win.

Right now Hurts is the best option. Just because I shared another poster's thoughts on the situation doesn't mean I agree with them.

ETA: I mean, I did post this about Barnett after the second scrimmage last month:

quote:

So my disdain for landing him two years ago wasn't wrong after all. Who knew?

ETA: I didn't like taking Barnett in 2014 and I don't think he will play well for us now. I wanted to hold out for Jacob Eason in the next class, but it sounds like we have a winner in Hurts. I'll take being half right.

It wasn't Town. I wanted to not take Barnett so we could land Jacob Eason in last year's class.

What hell was wrong with me pointing out BB has struggled with pressure, which was why Saban pulled him. He only performed well after the game was already won, USC had given up and there was no pressure or chance of failure.

What was wrong with me repeating the practice info about Hurts taking most of the reps?

Instead of actually addressing my point you just attacked me and said some other cap about me preferring certain QBs like I wasn't supporting BB over Coker last season.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with you pointing out Barnett's shortcomings. I even said in the game thread that he looked scared shitless.

There's also nothing wrong with repeating the rep count at practice.

What I have an issue with is you getting pissed when someone doesn’t think Hurts played absolutely lights out, which he didn't. It doesn't mean he isn't our best option.

Just my take but thought after a brief struggle, both QB's looked good, not great, but good.

Barnett started and looked to struggle more, but was this due to early line issues combined with his inexperience and nerves? Probably......He did come back and throw two very good balls, really like the one where he looked off the safety and hit OJ.

Hurts fumbled 1st snap and didn't really do anything for the 1st 3-4 drives that set him apart. It was the long bomb and the blown coverage where he made his mark. The running plays I think either one could have scored on each. Like his arm strength on the throw to Ridley.

I agree that Hurts look at ease, while BB seems to be nervous. Hurts played more, and I feel he performed better than BB did.......that being said, think both are capable of doing spectacular things given the opportunity. My guess is Hurts plays 1st QTR, Barnett plays 2nd QTR and the best man finishes the game with the other getting a few snaps at the end.

Who that will be.........Don't care.......Want both the excel to the max.

I have tried to steer clear of this conversation for the most part, but I am in the group of fans that have wanted a dynamic playmaker at QB.

Johnny Manziel and Chad Kelly are two QBs that come to mind that could be considered as having some luck on their side in games against Alabama. While neither guy won a championship, neither guy had the team around them that Blake and Jalen had either.

I was at the game Saturday wondering what the hell was going on offensively in the first quarter. Jalen energized the place when he started making plays. Its fun to have that on our side after seeing it beat us at times over the years.

I wish we could just enjoy the ride and not tear ourselves apart over this. I will say this... Auburn and LSU fans would give everything to have one of our freshman qbs. That right there is what its all about, IMO...

He is what we have:

Barnett started and looked less than ready for prime time

Hurts came in and started off slow, but picked it up on his 2nd drive

He the exploded in the tune of 4 tds.

He then got a bit cocky and threw a pick

Barnett comes back in after the game is in hand due to Hurts and shows us something good.

From what we know, Hurts should be the QB. He lead us to victory impressively in the heat of battle. Barnett came in and stabbed the dragon after Hurts had already decapitated it. End of story

Kathy would be at the top of that list as well. I am licking my chops thinking of her as we speak. Hold me back.

I agree with this. Yes he had luck with him and I have no issue on that because he put himself in the situation to create the opportunity. Something I have always not like with our offense is in the past Saban always seemed to pucker up and play to conservative. It seems with Hurts he is willing to gamble to and take risk. I like that and to do it you will need luck, but the key is being able to have those opportunities and with Hurts it feels like Saban is finally letting go on being conservative.

It's interesting that Barnett didn't get pulled because he was shaken
quote:

Saban: We had a plan that Blake Barnett was going to play the first two series of the game against USC and that Jalen Hurts would go in the third series.

So Saban just started BB to ese Hurts in? That's the only explanation for that.

How else do you explain Saban planning to play BB the first two series and Hurts until the game was out of reach?
