i don't think anyone really thought he'd be gone after this year, regardless of one's opinion of him ... i hope a light turns on for him as a coach ... don't expect it to based on the previous 5 years, but still hope so ...

some thought he would be gone last year, a lot more thought he would be gone this year. Now even more think he will be gone next year.

This thread will be 4 years old by the time he is in danger of losing his job.

I'll hold out hope that he can improve as a coach until he proves he can't win with shooters. I still think we'd be best served to find a new coach, but if he can get some consistent shooters it'll open so much more options as a coach. If we still struggle with good shooters, it's time to hang up the clip board.

Or, maybe we don't have "shooters" because it's difficult to stand around for 30 seconds then take an out-of-rhythm 3 with a guy in your face as the shot clock expires. Maybe we don't have shooters because his offense SUCKS.

We have several open looks from 3 every game. The myth that he discourages shooting open 3s early in the shot clock has been blown to hell both by his words to the media and actions during the game. If this were the case Coop would have been riding the pine the last two years. His offense would still suck, but having shooters on the team would make it a little more bareable. This isn't a defense for Grant though, he's had 5 years to recruit them.

We'ren't Lacey, Cooper, Randolph etc… shooters in high school? I've seen this movie before and I think we all know how it ends.

Lacey was a solid shooter, and Coop and Levi are both mindfricked. Watch Coop in warm-ups at a game. He doesn't miss. Again I think we'd be better off going with another coach, but if we got some consistent shooters it would help mask Grant's offensive inefficiencies.

I still say the biggest problem is lack of an inside presence. Our best with Grant was with Greene and Mitchell. We have no inside threat offensively or defensively. Taylor has shown signs. Maybe he will continue to improve.

Maybe, but until he proves he can properly develop a player not named Trevor Releford, i'll believe it when I see it.

Been awhile since I've posted on here, working on research for articles is a time consuming process. Anyways, something needs to be said about Auburn firing the first salvo in firing Coach Tony Barbee. If Alabama does not fire Coach Anthony Grant, we will be behind the eight ball in the state for basketball. Auburn will go out and spend the money for the best coach possible, that being Bruce Pearl. If the money is right, and Auburn does the right things with the NCAA, Bruce Pearl will be taking over in the Wiregrass. So, Athletic Director Bill Battle better get his ducks in a row and start doing the right thing in firing Grant like AD Jay Jacobs of Auburn did so heartlessly with Tony Barbee two hours after their SEC tournament loss. Coaching is a ruthless profession, and I want an AD who will be ruthless in firing a coach who has underperformed immensely like Anthony Grant. I mean, to me, Tony Mitchell being the only Grant era player that has been signed by any NBA team is all we need to know about a coach who cannot develop talent into winners at the college level and the NBA level.

You're overestimating the appeal of Auburn to Pearl. It would be like Jim Tressel going to Kentucky.

But Auburn is a challenge, just like Tennessee was when Pearl left Wisconsin-Milwaukee to take over an ailing Tennessee program under the Buzz Peterson era. Auburn is an appealing program because they do have a good basketball history and a completely new arena and a strong football program which can help in recruiting. Also, they have Charles Barkley who never misses a beat to promote Auburn's athletic programs, Alabama has no former player like Charles Barkley who is a hall of famer who promotes our basketball program like Barkley does for Auburn. Barkley is a talking head that is a polarizing figure that anybody who loves basketball at the pro level follows. So, no, I don't think I am overstating the appeal of Auburn because I would bet the house Auburn will throw the money around to hire a top notch coach like they did with Coach Gus Malzahn.

0-15 away from Coleman this year. 0-15. Let that sink in.
