Is there ANY way he stays after next year if we don't make the (real) tourney??
We do have 5 new guys coming in, 2 with practice experience, BUT losing Relly is huge

Thank God I unsubscribed to that Battle Plan E-Mail because I would have thrown my laptop against the wall. Guess what? AD Bill Battle has made a major business folly by keeping the dumpster fire that is Coach Anthony Grant. Shaka Smart, the coach after Grant at VCU has done amazing things with VCU, a Final Four appearance and a few deep NCAA tournament runs. Smart is the coach Alabama should have hired, not Grant. I hate being so negative about this issue of Anthony Grant's future, but good God, when you go back to the days of Mark Gottfried, Wimp Sanderson, and C.M. Newton and compare them to the Grant Era, Grant fails miserably. I mean, take Providence for instance, Coach Ed Cooley was at Fairfield before Providence, and now, they are Big East Champions in his third season. Under Grant, we can't win more than one game in the SEC Tournament in five years at HC. I love basketball, but I cannot stand to see Alabama lose. I played the game for years, as I am sure many others on here have, but anybody who has enough experience playing the game of basketball can see, Alabama is set up like Auburn, we are all guards with hardly any meat on the inside for those tough offensive and defensive boards. Unfortunately, without the meat of a strong frontcourt, all Alabama has is an upcoming questionable frontcourt of potatoes. With absolutely no meat in our frontcourt, we are going to struggle about as badly as South Carolina did this year. And hey, guess what, Mississippi State and South Carolina won more SEC Tournament games this year than Alabama did, just saying.
Battle needs to backtrack because Auburn will hire a top notch coach because by Alabama not making a move, I believe Auburn AD Jay Jacobs sees a major opportunity to become the most successful basketball program in Alabama for the foreseeable future with the right hire. You know Alabama basketball is bad when its sister college The University of Alabama-Huntsville has had more NCAA Tournament births in Division II and made deeper runs under Coach Lenny Acuff than Alabama and Grant has ever dreamed of doing with the Crimson Tide. If Alabama wanted a great coach as a cheap option, Coach Lenny Acuff would be a great candidate for the Tide. However, Acuff would be leaving an incredibly successful program he has built to come to a dumpster fire in Tuscaloosa.

Not firing Grant and going after Pearl was a very bad move.

Why is this thread anchored?

I had been saying Pearl to Auburn was going to happen, but folks on here refused to believe me. Auburn wanted that top notch coach because they saw the opportunity to DOMINATE the state of Alabama in basketball with the homerun hire of Pearl. All I want to know is when the Fire Bill Battle thread is coming because I will be all on that bandwagon. For a man that made millions off of college apparel and the backs of athletes, he sure has a poor read of the fan base right now. In fact, I keep calling him Bill "A Lotta Bi**h in 'Em" Battle as our AD. Mal Moore would have never stood for Auburn getting the upper hand.
