Im trying to follow Alabama baseball more and more now. It's hard to with Gaspard being there tho. If they don't fire him now, that's a mistake. He won't ever win a championship.

Here is my opinion on everything that happened for Alabama baseball this season.

The New Joe:

- Absolutely beautiful. I could not have pictured anything much better for us. The boxes, lights, playground, and everything else is just first class. Only thing that needs work for next year is the right field area. We have to get the students back out there.

The season:

- We finish 32-26 (15-15).
- We win 5 SEC series(LSU, Tenn, Miss, AU, and ARK)
- We won series against Auburn. LSU, and Tenn. I cannot remember the last time we could say that. Great job beating up on those rivals.
- Way to many close loses(2-1 vs NC State),(3-1 and 3-2 vs Houston),( 7-5 vs LSU),( 3-2 vs Kentucky),( 4-3 and 2-1 vs A&M),( 2-1 vs MSU),( 6-4 and 9-7 vs South Carolina),( 5-4 vs Florida). You can lose some of those but if we just win a couple of those we are getting ready to play this weekend.
- Lack of offense. Last in the SEC in runs scored per game( tied for worst batting average in the league(.249) and last in runs scored(256).
- Pitching was outstanding. We talked about it all year. The weekend starters did everything you could ask for. In the bullpen Matt Foster steps up and becomes a very good setup man for Burrows who broke the Alabama saves record.
- This team was good enough for a regional. 8th best team in SEC and 15 SEC wins. Especially looking at other bubble teams that got in. In my opinion we deserved a chance.

Mitch Gaspard:

Well you all know I defended him this year. I wanted to let him finish the year before I commented on him and the future. He has resigned and I am glad he did. You just cannot miss the NCAAs this many times. I have a lot of respect for him and wish him and his family the very best going forward.

The Future:

- We cannot go hire some up and coming guy. If you fire a coach(or in this case he technically resigned) you have to hire someone who you know can win. We just built a new great Stadium. Let's get a coach to match. If we hire someone who might be good, we will be right back here in this situation in a few years. Hire someone who is a proven winner.

This thread:

-We have the second largest official thread on the rant(second to A&M).
- I enjoyed talking bama baseball with y'all and following this past season together.
- I will plan on doing it again next year if everyone is ok with that.

Thanks. I will hang around to talk about our search for a coach and will certainly be back next year for baseball season. I follow football and basketball closely but I don't really care to talk about it on here.
