I want the coach from Alabama State. He's young enough to be our coach for a long, long time.

I consider myself a huge baseball fan. I may not have a high baseball IQ, but I still love both the college and pro game. I just want Alabama back into the swing of things and making these runs to Omaha. When I see our fans get into softball the way they do football, and even basketball to some extent, I just wish it would translate to baseball and we could have a solid program. We have such a solid foundation to build on to be a top program now. I still support the program through thick and thin, but Battle needs to look at where we are and see if we're getting better. Our goal should be to compete for a regular season championship and to compete for a national title in Omaha. I seriously doubt a light switch is going to come on and Gaspard is going to someday take us there. If we know we'll just inevitably fail in the postseason, then I see no point in keeping him.
I was talking and referring to coachcrisp's comment not you Gary. From what I can tell you just would like to see Gaspard move on. Nothing wrong with that. And you still cheer this team on regardless of who is coaching because you are an Alabama baseball fan. I think we kinda see this thing the same way as far our support for the team and what the future needs to look like. I will wait and see what happens Monday and then comment on the season, Gaspard, and the future.

I just looked at Alabama State's record for this season and they scored 27 runs in a game in the SWAC Tournament. 27!!! We haven't scored 27 runs in our last 7-8 games.

I will always cheer on the boys on the field, but our program has gotten stale under Gaspard. Think of it like Mike Shula's tenure. He was a good guy that was in over his head. I appreciate his time with the club but it's time to move on.

I get your point, but in my opinion that is being a very disloyal fan of the team. Cheer them on as they play. Our players are playing as hard as they can. How would you like to be a player and have your own fans trying to decide whether to cheer for or against you. That is just absurd. When the season is over we can talk about the future. Right now let's see if we can go on a run.

There'a a huge difference between being a "good fan" by pulling for the team (I do that), and looking at the "big picture". If Alabama doesn't make a head coaching change, we'll not see them as a serious contender for the SEC title, much less any national aspirations any time soon. Whether it's the inability to recruit the talent, evaluate the talent, or both, I don't know, but Mitch just ain't getting it done. And if it takes being left out of the NCAA tourney to get a change (big picture), I'm good with that, too...ROLL TIDE!!!

Time for a realistic list of potential replacements.

Alan Dunn - LSU pitching coach
Mervyl Melendez - Alabama State head coach
Dave Magadan - Arizona Diamondbacks hitting coach

But I would still make someone like McDonnell or Schlossnagle say no first.

Proud of how they fought. Hope they can at least make an at-large bid.

As am I. I really hope these players get a chance to play some more. Especially for guys like Salem and Vincent. We might have had a hard year, but I never saw this team give up at all. Very competitive. I am proud to be a fan of this great group of guys we have.

I wish my ole buddy Josh Willingham had some coaching experience. I think he would would be a heck of a coach! We go way back to little league, won 2 state titles together.

Sing going through the roster, we really don't lost a bunch of guys to graduation. Only six by my count. Obviously the MLB will probably get more. I don't know if Bramblett or Burrows is going to go, then of course Haynie might.

Other than that, we really have a solid team coming back. Here's to hoping Gaspard is gone and Battle will pay large bucks for a great HC. We really need to nail this next hire or Bama will forever be stuck remembering the 90s.

team batting average around 250. I think a complete overhaul is in order. Most people dont become better hitters from one year to the next. Yes there are exceptions. The joke from some of the reporters was that if you could score 4 runs or more against Bama you were going to win.

Dave Magadan from those three. Arguably our best player in program history who also has a WS ring as a hitting coach.

Alabama State coach wouldn't be a bad hire. I watched them in the SWAC championship against Texas State. He really has turned that program around.
