In my opinion, yes. and Howard.

I think that if our Oline can get their gel on, then I think that Damien Harris can be that guy.

But as of now, yes, its our WR core.

RPO works well for us right now especially with our WR blocking being so good. I think we can keep that up and make some real shots down field and also get ole miss tired. FSU did it to perfection in the second half and played right into their hands in the 1st.

You guys wanna analyze Hurts even more, here's a video vs WKU

LINK

I think he's ahead of the game in terms of being a TF, but like everyone said, he's still a TF and going through some pains. I must say, other than a few breakdowns, the pass protection was spot on- especially from Jonah. Jalen could extend the pocket out a little more and buy more time for receivers to get open.

I did think the pass protection was pretty good. QB had lots of time on most passing plays. Let's hope they improve their run blocking soon.

We're a finesse offense now. It's not a bad thing in and of itself, and we can still win a lot, but this is not a Bama smash mouth offense. It is what it is.

The old school definition of a smash-mouth offense (see L.S.U.) just doesn't work anymore.

We are the modern version of a 1 back NFL offense (what Kiffin ran with USC during the Leinart years). The modern version uses the pistol and shotgun instead of the 1 back, and we run a lot of RPO and fake jet sweep stuff instead of traditional PA rollout stuff.

Bozeman's shotgun snaps are a little bit like Russian roulette at this point...........that scares the shite out of me.

Also - how the frick did the officials miss the horse collar on Stewart and the face mask on Bo? Those were both right in front of us in the endzone and were CLEAR AS DAY. It was unreal.

I wasnt mad at the time bc i thought jerseys were legal and it looked like he grabbed the jersey not the inside of the pads. But now im reading this...

quote:

the NCAA will assess a penalty this season when a runner is yanked to the ground from the inside collar of his shoulder pads or jersey.

If this is correct the Ref needs to be fired lol. Because there will never be an more obvious call of tackling someone by the back of their jersey 5 feet from the ref.

And, it was dangerous as frick. That play was definition of the purpose of the rule. Stewart could have EASILY had his leg snapped back under him Adrian Peterson style. The guy didn't just grab it, he ripped him down for 5 yards by it.

Put it this way: we've won with less talent at QB. I think the only reason he's struggling right now is because he's been in a QB battle, and splitting reps up until this week, not to mention he's a true freshman.
Confidence is everything for Jalen right now. With more reps, and success in games, his confidence will grow, and he'll play better.
This is why I've been griping about this QB competition bullshite. He was clearly the best QB about 2 weeks into fall camp. He should've been given the keys at that point, but here we are... At least the indecisiveness isn't as bad as last year...

Anyway, back to our offense. I think we'll continue to improve. We're gonna have to grow up quick - especially in Oxford this weekend.
I think Emmons is a bad arse running back - reminds me of Trent. Look for his reps to increase more and more.
I think we'll be fine. We've just gotta continue winning while our offense figures itself out.

On defense: No worries whatsoever. We're as good as we've ever been.

As a whole: We need better leadership out there. Who's gonna step up as a leader? We need Jalen to start balling out so he can be the leader the team needs.

We're gonna find out a lot about our team this weekend.

I think everyone would be feeling better about Jalen if we had a running game that would be there to bail him out.

I think we have an adequate running game. Our offense is just in need of an identity, and more reps.
I think the ceiling of this offense is really high.

Our run game is going to feature a lot of option read stuff, and I think our best runner is a true freshman. Once we get the younger backs and the oline going, we're gonna be fine.

I feel better about Jalen/the offense because our defense is downright nasty, and will definitely bail us out.

I just don't buy Bo as a true RB. I think he should play the HB/TE role like we used Smelley.

I was thinking the same thing during the game. I'll bet he's used differently next year, assuming we've built a little more depth and experience at RB.

It can definitely still work. Stanford shows that. It just needs some element of the spread in it. I kinda wish we would go I-Formation more honestly.

That's true, I agree.

Yep...Arkansas has had some success as well...I think if Bielema stays at Arky long term, they could be a major factor, especially whenever Saban decides to hang it up...

Arkansas is one team I'm not worried about as long as Bielema is there. Bama's defense destroys that type of offense. They have scored 27 points against Bama in 3 games and 7 of those points where a gift from Bama.

Maybe so...but how many points have we scored on them the last 2 seasons? They were close to beating us the last couple of years...

This year, I'm more worried 'bout the game after Arkansas...Arky plays physical ball and can bang/ding you up and we play in their house...and then the next week we play in Knoxville...

Not as worried 'bout Arky while Saban is here but after he leaves, all bets are off...
