Haven't heard about Cam. What happened?

Nothing major... just nagging injuries (knee/shoulder) that caused him to be limited in practice last week and which alot of people think contributed to his subpar (for his standards) performance against Arkansas.

Seeing the way Arkansas ran the ball at will during their game with A&M gives me confedence that we will run the ball well against them.

A good mixture of Henry/Drake and we'll call it a day.

They have the best QB in the SEC. I expect some points to be scored. 20+ at least. If we can have 0 turnovers and manage a terrible offense we can win, but the defense can't get lazy with big plays.

The offense has scored 34 points a game, and is #3 in the SEC in total offense. GTFO wit that shite.

Big whoop, we have the defense to stop him.

So what? Statistics tell half the story, however if you want to rely on statistics tell me how we do converting third downs?

We have an at best average QB who is turnover prone with an unpredictable offensive line. Anyone in their right mind should be nervous or cautious going into this match because if the wrong team shows up we will be chasing the game just like against Ole Miss.

That is not what we want.

Oh and I see nobody has started a garbage time minute thread.

This game will be the biggest test for our secondary. Their WRs will make some plays.

So what?

So what? Our offense is clearly not "terrible" is what. We have done a good job of putting up points this year. What is your argument against that?

To be fair we've had some very good field position on a lot of scoring drives, I think.

The offense isn't terrible. It isn't really all that great either. I don't know how else to describe how I feel about it, so I'll say it's a 6/10. Though when it is hot it can be a lot, lot better.

I will predict if we don't win, Joey Freshwater will be the cause. If we throw, it should be with Coker under center to keep their DEs honest. If Henry has less than 25 carries, it is a criminal act of coordinator malfeasance. Pound the rock, Joey!

I think we're used to a more consistent style of play abd not so many mental errors. You see way more costly penalties at critical moments than we ever have under Saban. Very unorthodox

To go with that, in years past, there was more physicality up front and better protection.

I'm not disagreeing with any of what you or Allbamadoesiswin have said about the offense. I was simply arguing that saying that our offense is terrible is a gross overstatement.

Watching TAMU vs Miss State.

TAMU Offense Notes:

Kyle Allen. Huge threat with both arms and legs. Always moving around and sets feet quickly to deliver ball on the run. Every play seems to have a read where he can run or throw. Rolling out he is always looking downfield first. When he does run up the middle the defense needs to punish him hard and make him hurt badly (and legally yes), something Manziel always seemed to slither away from.

Wrs: Kirk is the go to guy. They line him up everywhere, even at wildcat QB. Funny to see a true freshman be the guy over 2 highly touted and recruited guys in RSJ and Noil, and a seasoned guy in Reynolds. Don’t sleep on Ratley he could be a clutch guy if the offense focuses too much on the other guys.

RB: Carson at 240lbs is the go to guy. Played the last 3 seasons so you have seen him. Nothing amazing but does the job of keeping most dlines honest. Hits the center as a counter to all of the perimeter stuff they run. Bama isn’t most dlines.

Summary: This will be a good test to see if Smart has finally found a way to quickly and effectively get the signals in and have the defense ready before the snap. Have to play assignment football, spy the QB, and have the other guys stay with the WRs as they move and the QB rolls. Will be interesting to see how much Ragland plays. Their offense goes fast so there wont be much subbing. Will we leave him in there or go with SDH and Reuben. I cant remember all the packages so I don’t have the answer but it may be something interesting to watch out for.

Miss State Notes:

Bama will crush

No more gross an overstatement then you making it seem like we don't have real issues on offense, as if our 34 point average tells the full story of how much we have struggled offensively.

Are we terrible? No. In spaces we have been terrible or worse though. Are we great/good like you make it seem in your post? No. Not even close.

ETA: I hope we put in some draw plays this week. Their DE's come up the field very quick. A couple of slow developing draws mixed with quick draws will force them to either be more conservative or slant. If they become more conservative, it will help remove some pressure from Coker. If they slant we can easily run QB bootlegs with run/throw options.

where did I make it seem like we don't have issues on offense? Never did I state anything like that. I cited our 34 points a game average and us being 3rd in the SEC in total offense simply to refute the claim that we have a terrible offense. Why is that so hard to understand?

Are we terrible? No.

Thank you.

Same as last year. And you knighted for last year's offense all season long(I did too.)

quote:

Are we great/good like you make it seem in your post? No.

Citing the fact that we are able to score points, thus implying that the offense is better than terrible.
=/=
making it seem like I think our offense is great.

If we lose I think it will be because of Kiffin. Trying to get cute instead of pounding the rock. We shall see. He has the chance to earn a little respect from this guy. But we shall see.

We can't have Coker chucking ducks while getting smashed by a DLinemen. Now way Alabama wins this game losing the turnover battle.

Outside of the LSU game this game has me the most concerned. They were embarrassed last year and unlike years past they can play defense now. If Bama doesn't come with their A game I think they lose.
