Agree. Everybody is trying to read tea leaves but no one knows what's going on. Shouldn't start running our guys down based on questionable reports

We've had our fair share of those under Saban be successful starters.

Alabama has asked us not to report what we see during the media viewing portions of practice.

Denon will still have a photo gallery up for you guys in a little bit.

Thanks,

TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama held its 18th workout of preseason practice on Friday. The media's viewing period of practice was cut in half as it always is the day before a scrimmage so there wasn't a ton of new information.
Editor's note: Beginning Monday, Alabama has requested that reporters not report what they see at practice. That mainly pertains to injuries.
Here are some takeaways:
--Outside linebackers Rashaan Evans and Denzel Devall were spotted working with the inside guys. This is normal as a lot of the linebackers cross train for depth purposes, but it is interesting to see Evans there considering he is a pass rushing specialist.
--Both running back Kenyan Drake (hamstring) and wide receiver Chris Black (ankle) participated in drills.
--Left tackle Cam Robinson is still wearing a brace on his right shoulder. He was in his normal spot during drills with Ross Pierschbacher at left guard, Ryan Kelly at center, Alphonse Taylor at right guard and Dominick Jackson at right tackle.
--Outside of players who are obviously injured like Cam Sims (knee), Raheem Falkins (leg) and Anfernee Jennings (back), no non-quarterback was in a black, non-contact jersey. For whatever reason, players wear regular jerseys while reporters are out there, and then change into black jerseys once reporters leave. Typically, Tide coach Nick Saban addresses all of the injuries, but there's no real way to tell who is out and who isn't without seeing for yourself.
--Defensive line coach Bo Davis wasn't happy with the players' energy through one drill, so he started the entire thing over. Along with outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi, Davis is one of the more animated coaches on the staff.
--A scout from the Miami Dolphins watched practice.
Up next: The Tide will scrimmage on Saturday. Saban is scheduled to speak to reporters following the scrimmage.

So let me get this straight. We can't get any real info out of AU beat writers but, we have to tell UA beat writers not to write about too much?

Got it...

Is there a written rule that you must allow the media in at practice? If not, and its that big of a deal just keep them out. If they cant report on anything then its a waste of their time.

i think we have an offensive surprise for wiscky that no on has seen before. It may be designed to wear them out wth speed and a short passing game/no huddle etc. That is why I predict a no name short fast dude who is a recent walk on as our starting QB. U heard it hear first. Dont be a hater.

I read The Last Coach a year or two back and the media was going insane because Bryant wouldn't let them into practice during the summer of 1971.

The wishbone was actually unveiled to the world a few days before the USC game that season. The students were having a pep rally in Coleman Coliseum and decided they wanted to go cheer on the team at practice. Bryant, realizing the futility of keeping them out, let the students come in and watch them run the offense that would lead to domination of the nation in the 70s.

Of course these were the days before social media. There were no cell phones to snap pictures or videos and no Facebook to post them to. USC was still completely surprised by Alabama's offensive attack in week one.

Guys, I'm at my first ever soccer game. Portland Timbers vs Houston Dynamo. Gotta say, it's pretty fricking fun.

ETA we are losing 2-0. Alcohol.

Funny story about that gif. In the movie, he orders a bourbon, and the bartender pours a whisky instead. Nothing is ever said about it.

Might be because he was about to try and kill his whole family. Don't miss the forest for the trees. [cheers]

That and the bartender wasn't real.
