Yall remember Hall and Billingsly? Remember when we all thought Jacori Brooks was going to be the next great receiver?

Difference is Bond isn't a head case like those guys and has shown for two years what he can do when given the opportunity. I'm predicting he'll be very successful under Sark.

Now go get Ryan Williams back in the fold. You could argue that is more important than keeping Bond.

I’m under the belief that Bond said to ESPN that DeBoer called him and that he (Bond) did not return DeBoer’s call.

So I guess his word is his “bond”?

It would be pretty embarrassing if he told ESPN that Deboer didn’t return HIS call!

I would expect Bonds to say what he said.. doesn’t make it true

Regardless of what happened, Alabama just lost it's best receiver

Bragging about not returning a call to an espn reporter tells you everything about his character. Good riddance.

The WR position under DeBoer is something no one should be concerned about. Prentice, Law and Niblack could be a lethal combination in this offense alone. Add in some other guys that didn't get many opportunities under Rees, plus the incoming talent, and there's little cause for worry.

Everyone pretending losing Bond is no big deal is laughable. That said, what can you say but adios.

If guys like Hale, Kobe and Law are smart they’ll stay right where they are. Grubb and DeBoer are going to do work with these guys.

DeBoer’s main focus with recruiting should be Ryan Williams. Full court press.

Dude, wtf are you jabbering about?

Bond said he didn’t return DeBoer’s call.

It’s blacks and white.

Why would you even go there?

I honestly didn't love his interviews leading up to the playoff. Pretty obvious why he wasn't put in front of the media more during his career.

He's a good WR, but we'll be fine.

Good for him. Go get paid. But, I hope texas loses every game.

I wish him well. Best of luck to him. The coaching staff will concentrate on the players we do have here. Bond had a chance to be one of those, and didn’t want to be. Some things could be said about Bond handling his comments better, but none of that will change the outcome. We have plenty of comparable receivers that can be coached up to take his place. Hopefully he does well as Texas, except when they play us, and we will do well here.

No one said that. He is an above average player.

But this is a lot bigger than one player who put himself over the team - especially one who was too childish to take the man’s call or call him back.

His “business decision” was for $$. It had nothing but to do with draft status. We are talking Alabama - not some fricking mid-major. We are talking Alabama.

Something I think gets lost in all of this is the fact that Grubbs was an OL coach for years. DeBoer talked about empowering his coordinators to work with the position coaches...I expect to see Grubbs' fingerprints on the OL and for them to be much improved.

i will say it. hes a dime a dozen. how could a team ever replace 600 yards and 4 tds of production? just cause he made a good catch in the auburn game doesnt mean shite. So did Brooks, and he left too.

I have no idea what actually transpired, but Bond has a really big ego. If that actually happened, no, he wouldn't admit it.

That being said, he did a great job for us and I wish him well in Austin. It's all water under the bridge now, no matter which way it went.

I liked Bond and I like Niblack and thought there was more than what they were getting production wise ( OC or QB issues?) But to me a mid level talent WR can look good if there is a solid oline and QB play. You still need an athlete to be an RB ( which I think Bama has as well) Yes if you need a 4/31 you need an athlete. But Bama has talented enough receivers, if Bama develops an OLine, and a QB. ( I personally think it wasn't and won't be the OC )

I simply posted what I was told by someone in the program..

But according to some here.. they choose to take the word of the kid that just transferred to Texas. So be it

The person that told me Coach didn’t return his call has no reason to lie.. but I can’t help but think Bond would definitely have a reason to lie.

Why even mention in an interview that you “didn’t return Coaches call”? The answer is pretty obvious, because they didn’t call you back and your ego is bruised.

Makes no difference at the end of the day.. you coach the kids you have and the ones that want to be there.

Obviously Bonds isn’t there.. I’m betting that Coach isn’t crying about it.. Transfers are a part of the landscape now!

But if you choose to take Bonds word for it.. that’s your choice.
