That would be awesome, in fact I hope every SEC team that has one, absolutely pounds their Big 12 opponent

I hope we never have to score 70 this season. Only way Saban lets us get past 56ish is if another team is in the 20's or 30's. People stack the box when Sims comes in. They know we are running it almost every play or throwing screens/check downs.

The problem with this is that we are a defensive team and we will run a lot so that they can stay rested.

FSU had an elite D (I know the schedule wasn't tough, but still that D was legit) last year despite also having a top 2 scoring offense and top 6 total offense.

FSU had an #AskJameis day on twitter. That tells you all you need to know about them. Seriously if we scored that fast it wouldn't help our young defense at all.

Well it doesn't really mean we have to score fast. FSU wasn't HUNH.

Though a lot of players did mention the offense going faster under Kiffin. Not HUNH, but instead of snapping the ball say under 10 second in the play clock, it'd be sooner.

We don't have to put up crazy numbers to win. It'd just be fun.

FSU threw for 4000 plus yards with 40 plus passing TDs with a 1,000 yard rusher with 15 TDs. I think a lot of McCarron, but thats borderline Air Raid passing numbers. Derek Carr and Bryce Petty were the only ones who topped that.

Looking at the wrong numbers.

Winston only threw it 384 times. In 14 games, that is 27.4 attempts per game. McCarron had 336 attempts in 13 games. 25.8 per game. Not a big difference. The biggest difference came in yards per attempt. Winston had an incredibly elite 10.6 yards per attempt.

Of course I would love to see us win by that much just don't see it happening.

To go further, look at this:

LINK

Jameis was 9th in the country in passing yards. Look at the attempt numbers of all those ahead of him. Only one close was Petty at 403, and that was in one less game.

His 10.6 YPA led the nation.

Carr was the only guy who threw more TDs (50) than Winston's 40. But he did it on 275 more attempts against SIGNIFICANTLY weaker competition.

Carr threw 659 passes. Only 7.7 yards per attempt.

659 attempts divided by 50 TDs = 13.18. Carr threw a TD once every 13.18 passes.

Winston's 384/40 = 9.6. He threw a TD once every 9.6 passes.

Winston and FSU weren't air raid. They just got play makers in space and Winston made big time throws.

I wanna have some more fun with stats.

Assuming Winston had kept his YPA and attempt/TD ratio the same, we'll look at the numbers he would have had if he ran an air raid and threw it like Carr did. Also we'll keep his completion percentage.

441/659 (66.9%) for 6,985 yards with 69 Touchdowns.

Jameis' game log. Look at those YPA numbers. Jimbo did a good, no a GREAT job, of getting guys into space. They had a lot of playmakers. Benjamin, Greene, Shaw, O'Leary, etc etc etc

Don't know that Kiffin is anywhere near that, but I do think he's an upgrade over what we had in terms of getting our playmakers in space and calling plays. I don't know that we have a QB who has what Jameis has in terms of anticipation and ability to change ball speeds at an elite level, but I think we have guys who can get the ball to the playmakers.

Oh I think he is. Alabama may not have a Reggie Bush, but they have several guys that are close enough. Kiffin can see this and will take advantage. Bet he is licking his chops.

Solid work with the stats. It's good coker learned from jimbo because he is a great offensive coach. The acc isn't the sec either. That is a factor you have to take into consideration when factoring in numbers. Sometimes numbers don't tell the story. Alabama values being balanced and while I think fsu had good balance, they favored the shotgun. Nussmeir is no jimbo fisher and I think he was a good replacement for mcelwain. However, he is not what we need now, the way the sec is evolving with high powered offenses.

Florida State's 52.9 ppg last season is the highest scoring average in a single season for the last 10 years. If that isn't the record, it can't be far from that seeing as how the scoring output has steadily increased over the years. So the answer is no, it's an impossibility.

I hope, but it may be a little over the top to say he's on the level of Jimbo Fisher in terms of being an offensive mind/calling plays.

Now don't get me wrong, I think Kiffin is really good in those departments. Under Saban he may become really great. But Fisher displayed both at an elite level last year.

By the way, noticed some eerie numbers:

2012 FSU vs 2014 Bama receiving...look at the top 3 of each:

FSU: LINK

Bama: LINK

Virtually similar. PLUS both lost a senior WR who was in that top three. Even the TE numbers for O'Leary and Howard are similar.

Then this is what FSU's players did the next year:

LINK

Greene added 19 catches and 400ish yards with 3 TDs. If Coop did that, he'd have 64 catches for 1,136 yards and 7 TDs.

Shaw added 21 catches and about 400ish yards with 3 TDs. If White did that, he'd have about 51 catches for 934 yards and 7 TDs.

No, I'm not predicting Bama's players to see that type of growth. Just having fun with stats.

FSU was second in the nation in scoring offense with 51.6 PPG. Baylor was first with 52.4

IMO if I had to rank the top passing QBs in the nation last season I would say:

1. Carr
2. Mannion
3. Petty
4. Winston
5. Manziel believe it or not

Winston had much more talent at WR even though his competition was tougher. The yards per attempt stat is impressive but sometimes Winston looked pedestrian at reading defenses. His receivers just got wide the frick open and that is thanks to their skill and jimbo fisher's play calls. It all leads back to play calling IMO and since nick saban has been head coach at Alabama, the only games I have just been overwhelmed with brilliant play calling was auburn 2012, notre dame 2012, black out vs UGA in 2008, and finally 2009 Florida. LSU NT game was great but even then the play calling was ok except for the passing on 1st downs that threw LSU off.

Back in 07 when Saban was hired, Hawaii led the nation in scoring.

Only 43.4 PPG. Would have been good for 6th in 2013.
