Napier has been good for Bama in the likes of Louisiana and Texas though, footholds Saban likely doesn't want to lose traction in. Can't pull everyone out of those states, but have grabbed some quality players.

Napier on his worst day is better than Bobbeh on his best in recruiting, so I don't buy that. Saban would've had a better hire lined up if he's been unhappy with Napier's recruiting. It screams bandaid hire, and unlike Malzahn, Saban doesn't have to make those.

I'll agree that he's better in recruiting. He gets some credit for a few of the TX guys, although he wasn't really the reason a few of those guys signed with us. There have also been several players that didn't care for him, and he doesn't get along particularly well with Kiffin. I'd personally rather both Napier and Bobbeh moved on, though. Bobbeh's most likely going nowhere.

I'm pumped about bringing in Key. He's an elite assistant coach. The Pruitt/Ansley/Key additions on the recruiting trail should be a big upgrade overall.

I just don't think you make a change unless you have a home run lined up. Key is that instance, Saban has tried several times to add him. UCF did a great job retaining him with job titles, but eventually led to their downfall. This was likely Saban's best chance before he settled in somewhere else.

The way it's shaping up for some coaching turnover in 2017, I'd make sure to make the right choice now...

I love it when he brings in a young assistant. It almost always turns out really well. Saban's connections and eye for coaching talent is top notch. I have no doubt that Ansley and Key (who are both considered very good coaches already by people who know what's going on) will be stars over the next few years.

Cristobal (OC/head coach), Kiffin (head coach), Pruitt (head coach), Burns (retirement)?

I think these 2 happen, the other 2 have a chance depending on what jobs open and if Burns has hit tenure.

I think they went ahead and got Mario's replacement, as it doesn't really matter what he coaches at this point anyway. Teams have a profile on Cristobal, they saw the work he did at FIU and how good of a recruiter he is. Bama still gets the recruiting effort of Cristobal this year, and the transparency of their future with Key.

Unless I missed a quiet extension, this is year 3 of 3 on Kiffin's contract. He served his time and will likely be rewarded with a decent HC job.

I've seen conflicting info on whether Napier will be gone or not. So, basically, I'd say pump the brakes about that. If anyone knows anything for certain, it's not coming from any of the guys that I follow.

I just don't see Napier being out. But I have wanted Lance Taylor back at Alabama in some capacity. But then again, Taylor could be more of a replacement for Burton Burns (if he was to retire in the next couple of years). Taylor has been a WR coach most of his career, but has done a tremendous job as RBs coach at Stanford.

'18 OT Commit Dare Rosenthal has already moved back to Louisiana from IMG Academy. Homesick after a few weeks.

...and Napier is his primary recruiter.

Any chance we get the donkey/beach gif in the thread opener again? I think it brought good fortune.
