Alabama dropped from No. 1 to fifth for one of state’s top prospects who is a UGA legacy,
Jaden Hunter, a 4-star linebacker from Westlake High School, explained to the AJC why Alabama dropped so far. Jaden is the son of former UGA star Brice Hunter.
“I got the feeling that they are recruiting so many highly rated guys and I think I wouldn’t see the field as much as I would want,” Hunter said. “It’s not that I am scared of competition or anything. There are already guys there that have waited a long time to get their chance. I’m going to work hard no matter where I go.”

Alabama is known for winning and recruiting prowess, but it’s been near ridiculous at one position group in particular. The offensive line groups have been gaudy and the potential 2016 haul has the chance to be its best yet

Alabama has put together another group of four-stars from coast to coast, literally. It could have begun about a year ago, when big Raekwon Davis committed. He is currently a four-star defensive tackle on Scout, though his 6-foot-7, 318-pound frame suggests offensive tackle could be his eventual top position. Even outside of him, Alabama has been able to get into California, Texas and New York in addition to keeping the top in-state offensive lineman home in Deonte Brown.
Interior linemen Chris Owens (No. 140 overall) and Brown (No. 100) could theoretically be flanked by top junior college offensive tackle and four-star Charles Baldwin and the top offensive tackle in the West, Jonah Williams. The Folsom (Calif.) standout is known for his versatility, so guard could eventually be his home at the next level.

WHAT’S NEXT?
There’s no debating the top offensive line recruit in the nation and atop UA’s board -- Greg Little. He decommitted from Texas A&M following The Opening earlier this month. Alabama had been mentioned plenty even before he backed off of the longtime pledge and he’s long been a priority for the staff. UA will compete with A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU and others for his planned commitment on November 4. Could Little be the eventual replacement to likely early departure Cam Robinson?

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Tramanda Moore is the newest offensive tackle for Alabama fans to keep an eye on. The Oklahoma City (Okla.) John Marshall standout earned his UA offer at camp in mid-July as he continues to turn plenty of heads this summer. He’s in no rush to make a decision, so Alabama is likely to know its fate with Little before Moore pulls the trigger.

Another the Crimson Tide has made recent gains for is Terrance Davis, out of storied Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catolic. It is the same program that produced the Kouandjio brothers and one UA continues to recruit well. Davis, a Scout100 prospect, is also in little rush to make a commitment. However, he visited Tuscaloosa on July 17 and soon scheduled an official visit for January 8-10.
"Davis has good flexibility and good knee bend, which enables him to win the leverage battle most times," Brian Dohn, Scout National Recruiting Analyst, said of Davis. "He has a nice initial punch and he gets his hands out quickly and engages the defensive player. Once he is on a block, he has the leg drive and balance to finish it."

Other Names to Watch:
4-star offensive tackle Willie Allen
4-star offensive tackle Jauan Williams
4-star offensive guard John Simpson
3-star offensive tackle Javious Bardney
3-star offensive guard Montel McBride (JUCO)
There's a name I haven't heard in awhile.

Yeah doesn't sound like the type that Alabama typically attracts. Oh well. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Poole, who’s visited Clemson, Alabama, Auburn and others this summer, says his trip to UGA next week could very well be his final one before school starts, though he is considering a possible visit to Auburn again. Regardless, he admits that he’s far off from anointing anyone as his No. 1.
“I don’t really have a leader,” Poole said. “I’m wide open with everybody.”

Bleacher Report gives odds on who lands Jaden Hunter:

Alabama: 4-1
The Crimson Tide once sat atop this list, but a four-spot fall doesn't bode well for Alabama's ability to reel in the Peach State product. Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi is the driving force in Tuscaloosa, and he is among the most accomplished recruiters in college football, so count him out at your own risk.
Alabama impressed Hunter during a campus visit in June and nearly landed a commitment, according to Hank South of 247Sports. He's enjoyed a busy summer since then, and the luster of that trip may very well have faded, especially considering NCAA rules that prevent coaches from contacting underclassmen.
Head coach Nick Saban and company could insert themselves right back into the upper echelon of his favorites by lining up another on-campus experience this season.
Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kirby Smart actually played alongside Hunter's dad in college.

The AJC’s Chris Kirschner spent some time recently with a prospect I’ve deemed as one of the most important remaining pieces of UGA’s 2016 recruiting class. That’s Elbert County athlete Mecole Hardman, Jr.
What did Kirschner learn? Well, the nation’s No. 2 athlete has great family support. He found an interesting angle with Hardman’s mother. She’s big on faith and told Kirschner there’s not a better coach in America to send her son to than UGA’s Mark Richt.

I was just reading an article on AJC, and it was mentioned that Jaden Hunter almost committed to us this summer. Did he suddenly discover that we recruit a lot of elite talent? Sounds like somebody from another school got in his head.

"He's a great kid, and that's the main thing," white said. "He's a pure athlete and he's got the size. He's still growing. Alabama's getting a good one. He's going to end up being a big ole' boy. He's only 16 years old. Just like his brother, they both started school early. They're both going to get bigger and stronger."
Jennings had 93 tackles with four interceptions last season.
"He has good hips," White said. "He runs to the ball well. He has great vision and he's a real smart kid when it comes to football and in the classroom also. In football, he has that second sense that you need. He makes a lot of our calls in the secondary and makes sure guys know what they're doing. He's always around the football. He does a great job for us."
