I think I was the minority when I lived in south side. Does that mean percentage or race?
I mean, if we're going to extrapolate: whites are a minority of the global population.
I was a minority at my high school. Was close to 50/50 then. Not close to 50% now and the school is awful now.
ETA: In the conversation in the USA, increasingly "minority" just means "black." Every other minority group is typically ignored.

I can speak for me and all the other black alums of Alabama that I know personally, we wouldn't care if Alabama stopped being competitive in sports without black athletes.
Where do you think that the prestige and power comes from in the state?...not to mention the $$$$!
That clown would be run out of the state, if he took that approach, by EVERY Alabama college administration in Alabama.
...oh yes. Check into the revenue that not only the institutions benefit from, but the local and state taxes that are generated.

I think he's trying to make a play for higher office and he's appealing to the idiot vote.

The only higher office he could hope to attain is running for the more favorable new congressional district to the Democrats. He'll never be the governor in this state. Walt Maddox couldn't even beat Kay Ivey despite being half her age and a pretty middle of the road pro-business liberal. A black mayor from a major metro has about a good of chance of winning Alabama governorship as I do winning powerball without a ticket.

Yep, that's what I think he's going for.
