I like Retin here, but Hale wouldn't surprise me. I just don't know if Hale is going to be able to create enough shots for him to be the leading scorer.

You might be right. Retin is certainly capable, but he's also fighting for a starting position. All I know is that Avery is very high on Hale, more so than anyone else on the roster. TIFWIW.

Neither was Releford his first couple of seasons. In fact, he was a terrible shooter his freshman year. He was pretty clutch his last season. If Hale works hard, he'll become a consistent shooter as his confidence grows.

True, people can get much more consistant with their shooting if they work with the right people.
Like I said, I have no info. Just from the folks that Avery is bringing in, it looks like he's bringing in scorers.
All I know is I can't wait to see this team hit the floor and put on a show.

Not to say Retin won't, but he seems like more of a slasher that will attack the rim, whereas Hale will pull is likely to shoot it up from the 3.

What I'm hoping to see in improvements this year is the ability to create open shots. Too often under Grant were players forced to shoot it wuth a man in their face or pass the ball up with the shot clock winding down. With Avery, I'm hoping to see players box out correctly, pass the ball around better, bank open shots, and win on the backboards.

If, and it's a big if, Hale can stay healthy for the duration of the season I would imagine he'd be our leading scorer. I'm just hoping that we actually play fast and take the first shot that's open like Johnson has said he wants. Passing up open shots was in the top 3 or 4 most frustrating tendencies of our players during the Grant era.

UA hoops with some controlled 5-on-5 scrimmaging. JMO: Nick King would start if eligible.

Said this when he transferred. I really like this kid and thought Pastner used him all wrong.

Things are definitely trending in the right direction with the program. It should be a lot of fun being a fan of this team for the next several years.

The people that are actually full time Alabama basketball fans have seen a lot of disappointment over the last 5-10+ years, and to those that continued to support the team during the lean years, but it will all have been worth it if Avery elevates the program like I think he might.
