Gran't problem was that he couldn't hold a fricking victory to save his life. Consistently the offense would have a 10+ game lead with 6 minutes to go and the offense would go completely flat. Along with that, the team would always be in foul trouble, they couldn't rebound worth a shite, never set up open shots well, and costly turnovers.

I enjoyed Grant's 2nd and 3rd years, but it was evident after his 4th year when we made the NIT that we weren't going to go any farther than the 1st round of the NCAA tournament. It all seemed to go down hill when Mitchel left.

Grant was the worst. Glad he is gone. Can not wait for Bama basketball to tip off.

I don't expect this to be the case at all. He's not consistant enough as a shooter to be the leading scorer on a good team. If he's the leading scorer, he's taking too many shots. I expect one of the new guys to be the leading scorer. I have no info inside but I get the feeling AJ will want his guys to be THE guys. Not folks he inherited from AG.

I get the feeling that he just wants to win.

Hale was a former 4-star recruit, so it's not like he doesn't have any talent. He broke out his freshman year and was a contributor last year, despite having on-and-off games. Hale seems more of a threat to shoot from outside the arc than Retin, so I fully expect Hale to be our leading scorer until Retin can consistently show he can bank open shots.

Yeah a 4 star talent basically means u are going to play in Europe for the most part. Or maybe a rotational player in the league.

Avery inherited everybody except Edwards and he's not really a scorer. Hale will be given every opportunity to be the man.

Talked to Coach a little on Saturday at the basketball tent. Talked to a couple of the players too. They are all excited. Coach is just awesome. My two sons were on cloud 9 after talking to him. He's just the type of guy that wins you over in 30 seconds after meeting him.
A few players will be coming to an event I'm associated with this weekend so I will try to get the scoop on whats happening at practice.

I did, but I missed the practice. Got there in the middle of Avery's speech. Was very emphatic that he plans to be here a long time. They are building a house here.

Neither was Releford his first couple of seasons. In fact, he was a terrible shooter his freshman year. He was pretty clutch his last season. If Hale works hard, he'll become a consistent shooter as his confidence grows.

Having an offense with a rhythm and open shots makes a huge difference too. Jacking up contested shots as the shot clock expires isn't a recipe for high shooting percentages.

I like Retin here, but Hale wouldn't surprise me. I just don't know if Hale is going to be able to create enough shots for him to be the leading scorer.
