@DanWolken
Already hearing people in the industry grumble about Alabama out-maneuvering Tennessee on the AD hire. Have heard wacky stuff on Vols.

This makes this move at 10x better

Just from reading, it looks like this was a great hire. Props to the folks who handled this.

What facilities need upgrades outside of Coleman?

For one thing, a new natatorium, said the dad of two competitive swimmers. Our nat is an embarrassment if you've seen UT's, Auburn's, Florida's, FSU's, hell, even Univ. of West Florida's in Pensacola has a nicer swimming set up. They just lack the competition dive well. Can't speak for UGA's yet since I haven't seen it in person, but I will this summer. Our swim team does damn good and we've got a world class coaching staff. But the facilities we've left them with is subpar. It's been as well maintained as it can be, but I think it's from the 70's. Time for a new one. And seriously, if you saw our SEC competition, you would blush.

Isn't one already planned. Football is taking over the spot of the current one. New academic facility.

Planned, but construction was delayed for some reason. Do it NOW!

What I was told last summer by the staff when we camped there was that the outdoor facility was going ahead as planned there on Campus Drive but that the indoor facility had been put on hold for now. Maybe it's moving again, I dunno. My info is 7-8 months old.

I'd post CGI of the plans if I knew how on here.

<----This guy too. I really like what he did at State and to the mindset of fans. He changed everything from the old Aw shucks good ol boy way of thinking into current trends. Bucked Ron Polk to hire John Cohen. Made decisions on results base not pat on the backs. I pretty much hate you guys hiring him.

Friend in the Auburn AD worked under Bryne at Arizona raves about him and texted me this

"Greg is such a great guy and I'm happy for him, I just hate that he's at that school."

I'd expect a new emphasis on basketball to be in place with Bryne coming from Arizona. He probably will see the value a good bball team can bring and the environment it creates. With Saban and the current FB support, he doesn't need to do much there, just grease the wheels to keep them churning.

Coach Battle is 75, has more money than Jesus. He wants to retire. The new guy is said to be top drawer. Plus Vols were in the process of making him their AD.
Sweet move on our part.

Hunter Johnson was saying on Twitter than a new basketball arena is in the works and would be done in the next ten years. I want it done sooner, but Hunter is in the know and it's nice to see a new basketball facility being discussed.

Where would the new facility go? I'm fine with a new basketball arena or even reconfiguring Coleman and giving it a facelift. But a new basketballfacility would really show the commitment we have to improving basketball
