Greg should be able to ease his way in because I can't think of a single sport where I'd expect us to need to change coaches soon.

Byrne had been Arizona’s AD since 2010, where he hired Rich Rodriguez to run the football program and secured funding for multiple major facilities upgrades across the athletics departments. Prior to that he was the AD at Mississippi State from 2008-10, where he hired Dan Mullen to lead the Bulldogs’ football program.

He’ll inherit perhaps the most stable coaching situation in college football in Tuscaloosa, but Byrne’s hiring secures Alabama has one of the most well-regarded athletics directors in the country in place to oversee the inevitable change once Saban does retire.

What facilities need upgrades outside of Coleman?

I don't want him making that hire. But our facilities will be ridiculous.

My stepdad is a State alum and he was crushed when Byrne left.

He knows his shite too so I'm pretty excited about this.

Oh.

I admit my enthusiasm for posting took a major hit on Monday night, but I enjoy fricking with morons to stay away too long.

Cristobal started it. Lupoi maybe leaving, and then not got me rialed up. Then Ruiz pissed me off.

Then the sudden AD changes floored me.

Tosh ain't leaving man.

And Ruiz is going to open up a spot for another 4-star, plus he missed a 37 yard FG in the Army game.

We're good.

Frickin fantastic hire. And what a job by the University keeping all of this quiet.

We've got some pros over there now. What a difference 15 years makes.

I could see Greg Byrne as a conference commissioner at some point. Football guy. Has right temperament to work with Nick Saban.

Positive reviews keep coming in

Byrne becomes SEC Commish in a few years, we hire Lyons and Dabo. LSU quits athletics completely.
